We played this excellent mini-scenario, one of a bunch which the League of Augsburg provide free, using Donnybrook.
I had my doubts that a 2 foot square table would provide an interesting game, but I was wrong. It played in just over an hour, as advertised.
Initial setup with the captured British women surrounded in the caravanserai, and the troops coming to the rescue. Needless to say I have no figures correct for late 17th century Tangier; the British commander is an ECW chap, the troops are 18th century, and the Moroccans are a mix of Saracens and Darkest Africa Zanzibaris. But you know what, they looked the part.
Great little game; initially looked like the Moroccans would get away with the women, then the King’s regiment charged in to rescue them, then Abu-Bakr raced off with some of the women in tow. Lieutenant Kirke was knocked senseless by a musket ball, but recovered and led the Tangier recruits into the fray. In the end it was a draw. But what a lot of fun in 4 turns.
