So I had a little action with Pulp Alley.
This was the fifth instalment in a series of adventures featuring Kentucky Jones and his nemesis General Vogel.
Scenario:
The good doctor is trying to escape the clutches of the Nazis after having foiled their plot to start an ancient buried alien spaceship (Scenario 4).
The plane he used to get to Turbanistan in the first place was left at the airfield while the Doctor pursued his adventures. Upon coming back to the airfield Jones finds out that the locals have siphoned the petrol from the airplane. The keys were left with a trusted friend not far from the field.
Jones and colleagues must get petrol and keys in order to attempt the major plot point - the air plane.
General Vogel is not going to stand idle by and watch Jones escape. He has decided to blow the airplane to bits and pieces in demonstrative fashion using the guns of the local emirs trusty tank.
But to do this he must first locate the driver and alarm the guards of the fortress so that they do not let Jones airplane leave.
Vogel and his men set out to stop the doctor.
Doctor Jones and his men have just realised that they're out of petrol.
The city's inhabitants have not risen yet
Bowie and Jones run across the field
Uzak Densit, faithful servant drags the mules across towards the point of the keys.
Rick Blaine and Elouise Danner follow
Bowie is shot down immediately.
Densit is close to the house now
Elouise and Rick are searching for the petrol
Meanwhile Jones is attacked by the vicious dobermann Schnauzie!
Vogel and his Sidekick Stahlhelm are giving the Doctor's crew a hard time
Jones frees himself from the rabid dog
Furious fire fight ensues
Danner and Stahlhelm are going toe to toe
Uzak Densit enters the house where the keys are located. Unfortunately he is mistaken for an intruder and beaten to oblivion.
Shoot-out is still in progress
Jones is now fighting a man AND his dog
Blaine decides to check on Uzak
The tank driver is located by Elsa, but Elouise is not going to let her reach him
At this point the emirs private militia arrived and seized both sides and stopped the fighting from developing further. The game ended here due to turn limit. No one managed to get a single plot point. Quite unexpected.
I think what happened was in part that the players tried to shoot each other away rather than just go for the objectives. This is a common thing the first times people play Alley I think.
I will probably try the scenario again and see if it happens again. I was surprised that no one tried to scale the walls of the fort or something similar drastic.
