Figure Ideas
« on: November 29, 2009, 04:36:30 PM »
Hiya guys now a few of you may know im going to be gaming every now and again with Street Violence rules from Foundry and Akulas zombie rules.

So im thinking instead of buying of loads of manufacturers just use Gamesworkshops Catachan Jungle fighters and Cadian Troopers and kitbash them to make some beefy looking warriors that would fit in post apocolyptic or heavily armoured survivors of a zombie invasion.

Do you think this would work? just heavy kit bashing?

Love to hear from you

Steve

kitbash is always fun.

What I'd do is buy a box or two of cadians and buy loads of bits from ebay (different heads, accessories, weapons)

I have to say that I personally do not like GWs plastic Imperial Guard infantry since the proportions are rather awkward, and that being un-armoured they do stick out next to all other manufacturer's items, especially Wargames Foundry. If looking for generic troopers, IŽd suggest using Pig Iron instead, or if you insist on the GW stuff, you could use some of Pig Iron's separate head and weapon bits to break up their common appearance.

I'll yield you, though, that combining parts from the Catachan and Cadian boxes can result in some excellent figures, as exemplified by some exciting "Not-Colonial Marines" which I saw some years ago but cannot seem to find anymore.

Otherwise, IŽd suggest getting some of Copplestone Castings "Military" Future Warriors. ThereŽs a variety of soldier types in various states of equipment, and theyŽd work better with Foundry Figures (although considerably chunkier).

If you're looking for unarmoured types try em-4 :

http://www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/Science_Fiction.html

They convert and paint up quite nicely :

and as a bonus, Doug (the man behind em-4) is a member here so you can ask him directly about stuff.
