Our group is preparing to play this very battle on Wednesday and as I set it up and read various accounts of it scattered throughout the internet, one thing confuses me.
There were canals on this battlefield. Some assaults of Allied infantry went in crossing the canal and they had to use cold steel because their ammo got wet. There is some talk of sluice gates opening and closing etc. Fine.
But then I wonder how the devil did cavalry cross these canals, unless they are not the sort of thing I picture with constructed sides not slopes. One game article has the cavalry even making charges across the canals to attack the enemy.
Anyone more knowledgeable than me on this one care to explain how cavalry operated in this one?
Thanks in advance.
