and for period accurate german I recommend the Brother's Grimm lexicon from the 19th century

I just checked, Feuerwaffen would be more accurate than Schußwaffen
and probably Vorräthe would be better than my Bevorratung, it also relates to all kinds of supplies

A scale seems to be very difficult to find! (actually there was some similar discussion a couple of years earlier here in LAF but I cannot relocate it).

The only thing I could find is some coal scales (it seems it is a dosimentric balance scale) which can be found here:
http://www.scalelink.co.uk/acatalog/Phoenix_Small_Kits.html

there are a couple of model (bench) balances available in various scale in the dollhouses shop equipment.

But a small weighing scales or platforms for  outdoors use, I think it is easy to be scratchbuilt.
A rectangular or round plastic piece, suspended by 3 or 4 chains from a hook and a rod to represent the counterbalance.

Ah and a rocking chair outside the building!

noone says anything got to be changed. Can't hurt anyone to get new ideas. Besides, the question of german phrases comes up regularly.

I would like to see british forum members react to someone calling their english shop "eating and shooting wares".....  ;)

Hi All,

Thanks for the ideas on how to improve the sign - sounds like I actually have several word options that might work for this context. I'll think it over and see if I can easily swap in a new sign.

Well, Mr. Foolery, Tom, Old Boy, seems we are neighbors, I'm up here in Sacratomatoville (won't that confuse the Far Countriers!).  Splendid work, sir, remarkable.  And I see that you account for 15 mm figures, very good show, jolly good.  Rather liked your bit about the savannah field piece.  Fake fur has its place, as does other bits and pieces of fur (but we don't want to go too far with that).  Though personally I'm partial to artist's canvas with its built in textured surface.

Hope I might see some of your in person work at a certain event over Labor Day weekend.  Yes?

Too-da-loo!    lol

(wait, that sounds like I'm off to the oval office!)

Hi Fifteens,

I'm originally from Roseville, so know the area. I even managed to swing a game with the Sac Tanks folks last summer.  I have young kids, so I'm afraid family time calls on these long weekends and unfortunately  I'm not able to get away for for cons. But if you're ever down here  or I can squeeze out some time on my next Roseville trip, we can always get a game together.

Well, two of the buildings under construction are waiting on parts (I'm making modifications to the original kits), and the last is lost in the mail. So I knocked out some palm and banana trees for the outpost:

These are the Pegasus kits and details on the kits and their assembly are on the blog if you're interested:

Thanks!

Hi All,

Well, the second building is off the table.  Hotel Zur Neu-Moschi:

This was inspired by Hotel Zur Stadt Dar-Es-Salam:

Not a complete style match, but the closest I could get.  Details on the build are here:
http://majorthomasfoolery.blogspot.com/2014/08/hotel-zur-new-moschi.html

Thanks!

Chris

Clever and very effective. Impressed with how your build results in two very lovely buildings.

Going to steal that idea if I can!
