Title: Free rules for my family Christmas game now on Wargame Vault
Post by: housecaldwell on December 06, 2022, 04:10:07 AM
I put them as pay-what-you-want but I'd like to encourage fellow LAFers to download them for free as my gift to you.  My family and friends have been playing this game for the last 5 years or so and so far everyone I've introduced it to has had fun with it.  It's a simple game that plays in about 60 minutes  and we have had fun making our own snowman miniatures out of clay for use in the game (see attached).

https://www.wargamevault.com/product/418596/Snowball-Alley-A-whimsical-holiday-game-of-throwing-snowballs-and-presents?affiliate_id=7300

Objective
There are two teams – the Naughty team and the Nice team – represented by appropriate miniatures on the tabletop. Each team has a base at their side of the table. In the middle of a table is a pile of presents – the Pre-positioned Present Depot (PPD).

To win, get more presents back to your base than your opponent. Running them back is safer
(unless you get hit by a snowball!) but throwing them is quicker (but they could be intercepted or dropped!).

Throw snowballs at your opponent’s forces to make them drop any presents they are carrying
and return them back to their base to warm up with a cup of hot cocoa! But beware – they will
be throwing snowballs at you, too!

Many thanks, Sir, a kindness in the true spirit of Crimbo.

Not daft at all -- I think Wargame Vault could make this a little more obvious.  But you should see that below the price it says "suggested price" and the actual price is editable.  So the solution is to erase the 4.99 and put 0.  :-)

Any proceeds that the game does raise are going straight into my kids education fund. :-)  But mostly I'm hoping other people will get some enjoyment out of playing the game with their families.

Best,
Nicholas

I've had a look at the Crimbo rules and they're laugh out loud funny! I've tickled 'em up a bit and turned snowballing into blasting, and throwing prezzies into 'emergency temporal shifting' of Parsec Crystals. This will allow the goodies (Santa and the red Daleks) and baddies (Davros and his black Daleks) to collect collect enough Crystals to save/exterminate Santa in our Crimbo Wargame!

'Exterminate Santa' is in the 'Future Wars' section of the LAF.
