They appear to be multi layer build models. Since most companies use 2-3mm thick mdf(can't quite see in the pictures due to the laser scorching )
There going to be quite time consuming to construct and a pain to keep lined up being nearly 40 cm long. :?
So I'm a bit on the fence about them,until I see some better pictures ,the layering may give a nice planking effect once it's painted?
If I'm honest I was more impressed with the link to the Spanish painters on the website.
But still a good find thanks for the link

That's a shame,far to basic for the money,I've better detailed card ones gathering dust ,odd they've chosen these for an article,As Gary Chalk did a tutorial complete with plans for the same magazine again with a better layer of detail,and I'd say both would take a similar amount of time to construct :?

I saw these at a show.
They came pre-assembled in a cardboard box that was a similar size to the basic hull.
The only bits you needed to put on were masts and bowsprits, they were in the box, but wouldn't fit when fitted.
As far as I know, the hulls are still pre-assembled.

That's interesting ,would have expected more Bang for your buck,I think basic hull is right.(not going to plug mine or anyone else's work) like a lot of mdf kits they just don't hit the mark for me ,mdf is great for industrial and hard edge engineered items .organic shapes and I do class 'sail 'as an organic,and organic shapes,is where the modelling verses production time/costs verses volume of parts ,becomes an issue,and mdf stumbles.and the reverse is also true for resin models.
These chaps would have better success with a puffer/fishing boat,Tramp Steamer,and River boat.If there using the method you've mentioned the hard edged shapes of these are idea and there's a huge gap in the market just waiting to be exploited ,for any kind of late 19th early 20th century vessel.
Then I'd be singing there praises (also my commission rate would drop like mad :?)
In fact it would take very little to convert either model into a fishing / coastal cargo boat a simple cab/ wheel house would be an easy addition as would a funnel,straight into the interwar ,pulp,VBCW ,markets.
it's not that I don't see a use for them it's just not the one marketed,
