Indiana Jones and the sword of Cortes part 1
« on: May 01, 2024, 09:29:15 PM »
Kicked off a new Fistful of Lead campaign today with my son:
Indiana Jones and the Prussian baron Otto von Druben are both trying to get their hands on the fabled sword of Cortes.

They've traced it to the lost city of Hoaxcoatl where both groups must try to find the sword before the other one does and get it off table. Also natives, dangerous animals and hidden traps are trying to prevent the explorers from leaving with the sword.

The lost city:

The natives:

Bad guys falling in a pit trap:

Von Druben searches a temple building:

My son won the game (he played the bad guys). Indy's arch enemy Belloq got away with the sword. Indy himself was knocked out of action by three natives with big clubs.

Sounds like a fun game. Love your table - very atmospheric. Out of interest, how did you stat up Indy?

Looks fabulous - I love the scenery

Indy, temples, jungle, Nazis, pursuing locals, ferocious wildlife and traps.  The epitome of Pulp action

Must have been a blast.

Thanks guys!

Out of interest, how did you stat up Indy?

I gave Indy's team the "heroes all" trait so Indy is a specialist with 2 traits.
I chose "weapon master" and "brawler" as his traits with a whip and a pistol as his weapons.
The idea was that this would give him an edge in close combat with his whip (it failed: I rolled a 4 for close combat with the natives, decided to re-roll; the re-roll was a 1! Natives won big time).

Maybe I will give him different traits next time, but the "heroes all" and extra close combat abilities seem to fit with the movies (no real leader, lots of close combat and a small band of compatriots against hordes of minions).

Great report!  And your scenery is spot on!  Bummer about Indy, though...

Thanks!

Bummer about Indy, though...

Don’t worry. He has “plot armor” as my son says and will return.

As others have said, the scenery is very impressive.

Great report!  And your scenery is spot on!  Bummer about Indy, though...

A minor setback: the hero always wins in the end...
