My photos of Carronade 2024 in Falkirk are online here

for those interested.

As usual I've tried to include images saying what the game was and/ or who was playing, where the info was available.

There are 100 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data.

Great pics. How were the trade stands?
Trade stands were ok, but alot had the same plastics available as each other.
Got a good deal on brushes from ABC brushes, that was it! Struggled to spend money!
ALot of nice bits, but I dont buy 3d printed or MDF kits.
The games and tables were all of a very high standard thoug

There was a recent thread on the proliferation of 3d printed figures at shows. That possibly primed me to spot them, but there were far more than I remember from previous years.

I bought a couple of Knight statues, printed under license from Fat Dragon Games (they were credited on the packaging). They were fine, but there was one stand selling 3d prints with all the supports still attached. I avoided them.

As McYellowbelly noted, a lot of the stands had the same kits, often at very different prices. One stand had a box at £31, which was £25 at a different stand. I have learned from previous shows not to buy the first time I see something.

I bought mostly things I had gone for, although a couple of things I had wanted to get were out of stock. There wasn't as much impulse buying this year, which was a slight surprise.

The show seemed busier than previous years, and not wall to wall with "gentlemen of a certain age", which has to be a good thing.

Just to be clear, I am not involved with Carronade except as an attendee.

However, I like it as a  show and am happy to promote it and sing it's praises!

It's an hour by bus from where I am on the Western edge of Edinburgh and would be about half that by car. Almost half that again by train, at a guess. As an old fogey with a bus pass the bus trip is free and the hour each way gives me ample time to plan and anticipate purchases and, on return, regret not buying "that thing" that I don't need but still want. :-)

It's also a chance to meet the folk I only meet at wargames shows.

Apparently they had 750 punters through the doors, so a good turnout.

The traders I spoke to seemed to be doing decent business.

At least one of the 3D printing guys was selling his own sculpts - physical models or stls, iirc. Lammings 3D printed ships suitable for Never Mind The Boathooks were their own design, too. They were also very dinky and cute, though I am drawn to the slightly larger (but therefore more expensive ones) for practicality.

Having been sucked into Gangs of Rome by my passion for all things Late Republican/ Early Imperial Roman I lugged several MDF Roman buildings home, along with some lead and resin items to detail them with.

Despite the arthritis in my knee and the twinges of gout in my right foot by the time I left, I had a cracking good time and commend the show to anyone who can make Carronade 2025!
