Title: Sanwar pirates air skiff (WOC conversion)
Post by: Geudens on January 11, 2010, 02:36:37 PM: converted from a WOC collectable miniatures Star Wars Skiff by removing the pilot, adding two late 19C ship model guns with lengthened muzzles and a scratchbuilt mast using 2 wooden rods and a sail made from 170gr blue/gray card with a clipart dragon printed om. Crew are Ironclad Sanwar. I will probably change the colour of the disc in the top of the mast from gold to gunmetal for a better contrast and some rigging will be added. BTW the top pic depicts the colours of the model about right, 2nd & 3rd: bad light I'm afraid...

Agree with you on that one. Sterling Moose put me onto a few models which are usually easy to get hold of. Now I cant find them on e-bay ::)

Nice conversion Guedens, it works well for the Sanwar.

I bought a couple for that very reason a few years ago - not cheap but compared to today's prices an absolute steal.

I see your point. Unfortunately, this is always the case with well known moviestuff..., much like e.g. if one is looking at an Old Guard Grenadier and would only be able to link him to the film "Waterloo". I know this isn't quite the same, but you get my drift.

We intend to use the models (there will be some more of them) in a GSF (VSF but starting during WWI, hence G for George V... :D) campaign, set on an (then) newly discovered planet in our Solar system. It is up to the strength of the background story of the campaign to make the players view this model as being GSF instead of Star Wars. I'm sure it will work.

Well by the sounds of that you could convince me. And I do think that if it is used in a game, with more models on the board and it not looking out of place it would be a lot more natural I guess.

I think it fits very well into a declining low-tech background or a very primitive Dieselpunk
