Painting Denim for Cowboys Jeans, any recipes please?
« on: April 07, 2024, 11:09:53 AM »
Morning all, I'm really struggling with getting a realistic Denim colour for Jeans. I usually end up with shades of blue rather than a work worn Denim. I use mainly Vallejo with some Scale 75. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks in Advance
JB

Vallejo Stone Grey is your friend... use that to highlight (up to virtually neat) any old blue for denim

Very nice denim - this is one to copy. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip, Dags, and the question Johnny Boy.  I've seen other answers to the question that more work but the simple stone grey over blue idea is "simple".

And, Dags, those checked shirts, especially the lighter blue, are very nice work.

Perfect Dags thank you very much, I hope I can get results half as good as yours. Can I ask where are the Prospectors from please?  I've got a Mine and Camp planned for my campaign and so far have only seen odds and sods from different manufacturers.
Thanks again
JB

Denim starts out as Indigo Blue, very dark blue but not blue black.  For Miners try Tiger Miniatures under Mounties and Trappers.  Ainsty Castings has a variety of mine sets with mine carts and track.
