Title: Claymore Castings Crossbowmen
Post by: huevans on October 19, 2014, 02:39:31 AM
Well, mes amis, if I was about to be ridden down by the arrogant nobles of my own army, I'd be a little "cross" as well.  ;)

They do look good, the poses are different too,not run of the mill, the sculptor does seem to more often than not, come up with fresh looking sculpts. :)

Hopefully, Claymore will be making some more mounted figures and personalities as they expand their French range and move into the 100 Years' War.

Oh, I hope so! I could do with some early 100 Years War for some local marginal conflicts...

Has anyone seen a comparison alongside Perry Agincourt minis?

Here is one with the first Xbow batch. Perry's are the 2 knights and the front archer, Claymore castings the rest.

Still can't get the hang of uploading images direct from Flickr so I've put the pic on my blog as well.

Indeed, I'll try and find out as I am away for a weekend of Sudan gaming with Mr Saxondog tomorrow.

That would be good, Jack.

Perhaps you could suggest that Claymore also consider doing figures to cover the 'feudal' period too. late 12th to mid 13th perhaps. :)

Happy gaming.

Just as our posts crossed the Dog has updated his blog with the range they are planning for HYW French. AFAIK once a pack has made it's sculpt and production costs CC plough the rest into the next pack costs.

Had seen that Jack. The planned range looks great. I hope they intend to follow them with some early English.  :)

I'd discussed with Mr. Imrie at a Partizan (long ago) the possibility of also looking at the Barons wars and Welsh wars, and I think he was fairly in favour dependant on sales of other ranges first.

If they make the range of French figures, I will buy for sure. The big weakness with the current English and Scots range is the lack of horsed knights and personalities.

I am really looking forward to seeing more of the HYW range including the Bretons.
I wonder what mins the Welsh wars line would produce.

Absolutely mint!  Having sold my entire medieval collection a few years ago, these are good enough to tempt me back.  Would be up for Welsh and Barons Wars too.

Crowd funder? If Claymore did do this range, I might be tempted into my first Kickstarter thingy ever with 'proper' money... ;D

A really good range of 'feudals' is something that is missing IMO. Fireforge got so close, but blew it with the 'heroic' poses and limited giant weapon options. No falchions, for example.

Excellent, natural poses, combined with very good period detail.

Oh, too right. The Anarchy, the Third Crusade, Richard and John's Normandy campaigns,  and up to the Barons' wars (and most of that just the Anglocentric intrrest!). It's quite a stretch of time to be lacking a decent metal range, the ex-Citadel ones notwithstanding.

Back on topic, however, these lads are so attractive I'll probably grab some just because they're so very pretty.

They are truly great sculpts and there is a lot of realism in the poses. Great variation too  :-* :-* :-*

These are excellent additions to Claymore's range. Is anyone aware if Claymore Castings are available from any vendors in the US (or is it strictly a case of purchasing directly from Claymore Castings)?

I think the latter of your suggestions may be correct.
