A few other pieces for France. Both of these are 3D prints from Sabotag3D. A calvary, which features in the first map for the Martlet campaign.

And 10 concrete telegraph poles:

Then a complete change of theatre and something I've been meaning to do for some time - bunkers for the Japanese in the Far East. These are all scratch built using XPS foam as the core base for the shape. I made five - two for LMG teams; one slightly larger for an MMG team and another for an AT gun, and, one large bunker to house two weapons teams.

Nicely done 👍.
Just ordered the CoC dashboards and the drinks cabinet from Sabotag3d.

Lovely new additions to your terrain collection! The details like the telegraph poles will still enhance your beautiful set-ups! I particularly like the japanese bunkers, very effective. Also really impressed how your basing works well for différent theaters, I mean except for the banana leaves and maybe a bit of longer static grass, the basing looks the same between Normandy and the Pacific, but it works well in both cases - very efficient!

Keeping with the Far East theme of the bunkers I've added a few wheeled vehicles to the Japanese.

First up an Austin MkIV from MasterBox. This one comes with decals for the Japanese, simple as they are. Not sure how much service these saw beyond the 1930s but the Japanese made a lot of use of armoured cars in China.

Hasegawa make this nice Isuzu petrol tanker which comes with a trolley and a handful of oil drums:

IBG do a range of soft skins for various nationalities and I picked up one of their Isuzu trucks. It comes with an engine and so I decided to make the most of that and so it's a broken down version. Should make for a good bitter of scatter terrain.

Last but not least is the diminutive Kurogane car, this one a resin cast from 172 Scale Miniatures. It's not the finest model in the collection and doesn't bear too close inspection but it looks the part. Only found out recently that this was the first four wheel drive utility car in any army in the world.

Some useful additions for the Far East.

Very nice indeed. Interested to know what colours you used, as those have turned out well?

Thanks. I used Tamiya Khaki as the base colour and lightened it with Tamiya Buff. Glad you like it, I think it works well.

It does work well. Interesting,  it looks a bit greener than I would have expected from Khaki and Buff.

Following on from the Japanese bunkers I posted earlier I've now added spider holes as individual weapon pits. These are from a set from 172 Scale Miniatures and all I've done is added slightly larger bases. I've put together a longer blog post on the bunkers and these which you can find here http://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2023/09/bunkers-spider-holes-and-soft-skins-for.html

Introducing a new player to Chain of Command and playing the Storming the Citadel campaign set during Kursk. It’s been the inspiration to getting around to finishing off some Russian AB Figures. Over time I’ve been replacing the plastic figures from PSC that I used when I first came back to miniatures. Nothing wrong with those figures per se and they’ve served me well, but you know, AB Figures are just….better.

Included in my order from Eureka Miniatures was this rather nice sniper, also from AB.

If you've been following this thread you will know that the bulk of my Second World War gaming is played using Chain of Command and my figures are normally based individually. However the rules that brought me back to gaming with miniatures about ten years ago were Crossfire and after a hiatus of nearly thirty years the first miniatures I painted were Plastic Soldier Company 1/72 figures which I based on 40mm squares.

Once my gaming shifted to Chain of Command the Crossfire armies remained stored away. More recently I dabbled with Crossfire using the 12mm armies I'd put together for O Group. They worked well but lately the club has shown interest in playing more games in 20mm. That's inspired me to dig out the old Crossfire armies and begin refreshing them. A few at the club have based their's on 40mm round bases and I like the look of those. As part of the refresh of the old figures I decide to rebase them and to match up the basing with the urban ruins that I had originally created with Crossfire in mind but have used more often now for Chain of Command.

The first batch is finished and gives me a German company. Here they are and you can see how the new basing works well with the terrain.

The Russians are next in line for the same treatment and then I hope to put on a few games set amongst the ruins.
