Salute Barbastro Games
« on: April 15, 2014, 06:18:21 PM »
I have collected quite a few pics of the Salute Barbastro game over the past couple of days, but none that include close-ups of the Royal Guard Cavalry division deployed in the center of the Isabelino line.

I'd be quite interested to have a closer look at the figure conversions so does anyone know if such pics exist somewhere on t'net ? I've been through all the blogs linked in the relevant LAF Salute threads plus Giles Allison's Tarleton's Quarter blog but no joy so far.

Try the First Carlist War Yahoo Group.

Here is Chris's answer to the question on the group

"They are line cavalry bodies with BAL heads, had some left over and got some more cheap, the Cazadors are the same with infantry heads. I thought the shako cords would be difficult but copper wire is really easy to use".

He has put pics in the gallery too.

Cheers for the speedy answer, Phil.

The exquisite irony is that I've been a member of the group for quite a few years but did not even think of looking there in the first place. The new Yahoo groups layout that's been around for eighteen months or so hasn't encouraged me to visit often either...  :?

Too true, today is first time I've signed on for a while :)

As the moderator of the group I hate the way Yahoo changed the layout

Yahoo groups have always been rather disastrous...especially with the advent of free forums you can run from a number of hosts.  I haaaaate when a community uses Yahoo Groups (as my group does...argh).  lol

Which is a shame, as there is some good content there.

Back to the subject at hand, I think I'm going to try my hand soon at some Guard mounted cazadores and lanceros. The cuirassiers are easily done by using the plastic French heavy cavalry officer as he doesn't have a shoulder belt.

Unless of course Michael Perry beats me to the punch : there was talk on the net of new FCW releases a few months ago and the Carlists in shell jackets Michael sculpted aeons ago have yet to see the light of day (there was a WIP pic of those on the Yahoo group but I can't seem to find it anymore). I also remember Michael muttering something about doing Isabelino infantry in frock coats, but I dunno if that's still on the cards. There's certainly plenty more he can do with the period, including loads of colourful troop types.

I've also been looking for more photos of the game without much luck.

I fully intended to take lots but it was so bloody dark in there, without a tripod it would have been pointless.

I Googled "Salute 2014 + Barbastro" and found more photos.
