Title: Official This Is Not a Test Rules Thread (2016 Retrospective Now Added)
Post by: Deathwing on February 22, 2016, 08:35:43 PM
First, I thought it was time to have a place other than Facebook where folks can ask rules questions, etc., so I have created this thread.   Especially as I know some folks don't like Facebook.

Second, I wanted to thanks Mr. Bews and the others who make Lead Adventure one of the most diverse and dynamic forums out there.  It's hard to beat the level of gentlemanly, and ladylike, discourse.  I am both pleasantly surprised by the number of TNT threads and humbled by the hobby content.

Second, I will endeavor to check this thread often and answer your queries as best I can.  So if you have a query burning a hole in your brain, say like a rad worm, then ask away.

Thank you very much.

Awesome!

I'll jump right in and add a link to your excellent and well-nigh comprehensive FAQ (http://worldsendpublishing.com/frequently-asked-questions-faq-and-errata/), hosted at World's End Publishing.

Our group managed to find enough answers in the FAQ that we decided to put together a slightly abridged .pdf version of the TNT FAQ (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27271090/TNT%20Abridged%20FAQ.pdf) just to keep it handy.

Especially as I know some folks don't like Facebook.
Yeah, that'd be me.  ;D

So if you have a query burning a hole in your brain....

Are there any plans to produce a printed copy of the rulebook? I loathe PDF's almost as much as I detest Facebook... almost...  ;)

Got a quote from a local copy store, $30 printed in black and white with plastic covers front and back with wire binding.

Really, they could put it on one of those "order a book to print sites" like how Supersystem 4 did...I ordered one.

There will also be special edition miniatures and some other neat stuff.  We aim to keep it low key and achievable.  Please spread far and wide if you would kindly.

All the best.

This may seem redundant, but I think we have been doing this wrong...  o_o

If a model with a Burst capable weapon fails an Activation test and then spends its 1 AP to shoot, does it get the additional 'burst' AP to fire the weapon?

We have been playing you need to spend 2AP to get the additional AP, but as our buddy Phil pointed out the rule states you only need to spend all available AP...

Title: Re: Official This Is Not a Test Thread Rules Thread (Kickstarter News)
Post by: rollawaythestone on March 03, 2016, 12:30:07 AM
We've played it that if you spend your 1 AP to shoot a Burst, you get a second shot. But this may not be intended... curious to hear.
Title: Re: Official This Is Not a Test Thread Rules Thread (Kickstarter News)
Post by: Deathwing on March 03, 2016, 08:18:33 PM
Your buddy has the right of it.  As long as you spend all available AP, you get two shots with a Burst weapon on any turn you receive just 1 AP.   This also counts for models on old.   This is why Burst weapons tend to be a little more pricey and theri high reliability score.

Makes sense, and we played this way during our last game. Have to say I enjoyed it a lot. Made for a very 'engaging' session.

Ok, questions...

1. Climbing - the 2AP trigger for a 'Climb Test' - does it only count if the AP are spent in a single Activation, or over multiple Activations?  Example: Activation one, a model spends 1 AP to climb 1", halfway to the next floor above. On the next turn the same model now spends 1 more AP to make it to the next floor up.

Also, is it one test per climb, regardless of how high, or one test per 2" / level of structure?

2. Lasers - The special rule for these Relics allows us to roll 2d10 and pick the better result to hit. Will they Malfunction if either die comes up a '1'?

For now lasers only malfunction if you roll double Fumbles.  We may introduce a recommended change that instead of malfunctioning in this manner, the weapon flat out breaks for the rest of the game.

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Only if during the same activation as the model is effectively scrambling up terrain in a non-safe manner.
Got it. Slow and safe, no tests. But risky scrambling may get you where you need to be in time to be useful.

For now lasers only malfunction if you roll double Fumbles.  We may introduce a recommended change that instead of malfunctioning in this manner, the weapon flat out breaks for the rest of the game.
Yow! We might play-test that. Right now lasers don't seem to be prone to malfunction, so we might try the Jam on any single '1' result as well. Honestly though we just haven't had enough time with them in game.

All the best for a successful Hard Copy KS!

Too many options - now I have to decide between being a Wasteland Legend or King of the Wastes.

Also, how integral are the bottle caps to play or are they a 'nice to have but not essential' sort of item?

They're pretty useful as counters, if you don't already have some. My group uses the black rims for hits and the silver rims for jams.

I know I hate how much the cost of shipping adds to the total.  Actually, the post office will charge me about $22 to ship, so I am offering discounted shipping at my expense.  My hope is that reduce the sting a little bit.

Usually gets delivered faster, too.

Can't drop £45 on a rulebook, sadly.

It is because of an international postal agreement where "developing countries" can send items cheaply to "developed countries". It is your tax money that pays for the cheap shipping from the far east.

That's great - and also vexing as I had already re-allocated my hobby budget.  Will have to jigger around a bit and see if I can still back this one.

UPDATE:

Jiggering successful! I have pledged as a mutant and will add some extras in the post-campaign pledge manager. Really happy I was able to back this one.

A Question: Regarding the definition of "Enemy Models" for the purposes of earning XP.
Are these limited to only the members of other Warbands or does the definition include any Creatures of the Wastes that may show up?

This was an omission and will be updated in the book.  Wounding critters provides EXP, but it will probably limited to about maximum of five per game.

Very cool. Five sounds sweet.

I would have picked up three XP from a Chupacabra nest that my buddy purchased to balance my high-point Preserver list in today's "Caravan Lost" game.

Ironically, during the income phase I drew the Ace of Spades. When my Seeker passed the challenge I decided to add three Chup's to my list.  lol

Love how TNT manages to tell a story every game.

Is there a cap on how many zombies can actually spawn in Pest Control? During one of my group's games the count reached 25+ which was a bit of a mouthful for two starting bands.

No, but I plan to address that soon.  I think a cap should be double the number of non-zombie models on the board.

This is one of those areas where if I make an official ruling, than I really have to address quite a lot of specifics.   So I plan to keep it a little vague, unless folks want a scenario by scenario breakdown. For instance trained animals could probably herd the animals in the Caravan scenario, but they probably cannot go searching for lost relics in piles of refuse in the Snipe Hunt scenario.

I would say that if something seems reasonable, then allow it.

The book and PDF will be updated at the same time. Once done the book goes to print and we wait.  The updated PDF will then be sent out to all buyers; this will be done before the book arrives.  The two will have the same content.

Couldn't find anything that looked like a better place for rules questions, so I figured I'd ask here: In the Mutant Cannibals supplement, the Slaughter Blade is listed as N/A under it's 1H/2H column. So, which is it? lol Based on it's art and description, I was thinking 2H but I thought I'd ask to be sure.

Awww yeah!!! I've been waiting oh so patiently for the rule book to come into print and now it's going to be mine!  :D
Now all I have to figure out is, to get the peacekeepers or wait till I have more $$? That is the question that I will be asking myself right up until payday... Hmmm.... Decisions, decisions.... Hmmmm.....
Either way I'm going to get the gasmask girl with the rulebook that's already decided but should I get more mini's to add to my growing pile of lead.....
