Fantastic work! I'm stealing the half figure prepared position idea!

The Crossfire revival project continues and now it's the turn of the Russians to be rebased and have a bit of a refresh. I think one of the good things about multi-basing is that the eye is drawn to the unit rather than the individual figure, in the case of this project that's a bit of a godsend as these figures are some of the first I painted when returning to miniature gaming. They are passable, but not my finest hour!

Despite many additions to existing units, it's been a little while since I added an entirely new platoon to my collection for Chain of Command. It was well over a year ago that I bought a number of Fallschirmjager. Mainly from AB Figures but I added a few more MG42 LMG teams with others from Wartime Miniatures. I seem to recall being inspired by talk of a Market Garden supplement for CoC and rumours of a few campaigns set on the Dutch/German border in late 1944/45. It was definitely time to add a Fallschirmjager platoon to the collection. It's taken a while to get them painted but they are now finished.

Lovely stuff. Looking forward to seeing these in a battle report sometime soon. Would also work for Carentan etc?

Thanks. Yes, these should be good for NW Europe and late war Eastern Front. AB do a nice set in tropical kit for Nth Africa, Sicily and Italy but I’m not going down that rabbit hole just yet!

I needed a new bridge and fancied the idea of a lift bridge (needed? Actually, no. Wanted? Yes). While MDF kits make a great starting point the tell tale features of laser cutting like sharp angles and smooth surfaces are best disguised in some way. Gave a simple lift bridge a bit of a facelift and was happy with the end result.

In our house we don't do 'Needed', just 'Wanted'
My wife doesn't NEED any more handbags &
I certainly do not NEED any more Wargames stuff.  lol lol lol

Lovely job on the bridge by the way.

I'm with has.been.  Only with my wife, it's cookbooks, not handbags.  And we take the same approach to buying books - me with wargames rules and scenario books, and her with cookbooks.  If they are (even vaguely) in oru areas of interest, are well-produced, and have a bunch of pretty pictures, we buy 'em.  Whether or not we actually ever use them is beside the point... :D

And great-looking bridge, by the way... :)

A few extras for the Far East. I picked up a few of the Foundry 20mm sets and the Australian weapons group really took my fancy. I liked the idea of mixing up the range of poses that I currently have which are all from Eureka, it's always good to add variety. These will also work well as Chindits for my Burma games. The set includes three Bren guns with a loader and two Vickers MGs with a loader.

When I bought the Japanese in spider holes from 172 Scale Miniatures which I posted earlier I also added a few from their Chindit range including a few leaders, a media and a radio operator.

They are slightly shorter than the Foundry figures, but not enough that you would really notice and otherwise mix well.

And the first trial of one figure for my new project for 2024, a platoon of US Marines. He is from Eureka Miniatures and was sculpted by the same person as the Australians and Japanese. I really like the look of these and this first figure is one I received from them a year or two back as a sample in one of my orders.

The rest of the Marines are in the process of being based ready for priming.
