Title: Frothers Unite! UK Pro-Am Sculpting Competition 2009
Post by: AKULA on October 27, 2009, 09:20:18 AM
I was lucky enough to get hold of a set of the Winners/Runners-up, from the recent Frothers Sculpting Competition (probably helps that I was one of the judges) ahead of them going on sale in the Frothers webshop, in order that I could get them painted up for the second installment of "Nightmare on Frother Street", at FIASCO, on 1st November.  PLEASE NOTE: AS OF NOW (27TH OCTOBER) THESE AREN'T AVAILABLE FOR SALE YET - please don't hassle the nice chaps on Frothers yet - i'll post an update when they are up in the shop!

I've based most on 2 pence pieces - the Tanks are on larger (40mm) bases, with inserts from Fenris.  The hospital zombie, and "climbing out of the ground zombie", have had a bit of milliput added to make their existing bases round, and then stuck on 2p's.  Finally, , with apologies to Ben from Black Bat Bases, but the Raven, is only primed, as i'm planning to add it to another mini, rather than as a standalone piece.... ;)

Winner - Survivors

Oh right the old..... 'not got dround to any photo's' story eh?

THIS IS FROTHER...... erm no it isn't, so I'd be very pleased if you could post a few up, if you've got time and you're not too busy!

There's a bit of a 'zombies flashing their bums' theme going on here, isn't there? Very weird.

Great sculpts though. I (whispering) don't do the zombie thing myself, but I can see that news crew in flak jackets being pressed into action down at Oxiana Towers. Smashing stuff.

Well for one, i'll probably be near the Frothers zombie game...and for two...well, you'll work it out, when you see the T-Shirt i'll be wearing on Sunday.... ;)

If that isn't a big enough clue, then look out for Dags, although if he is anything like last year, he'll be nursing a hangover....

 lol

Wow, what beauts! The news crew in body armor will be a problem though, unless you're smart enough to go for the head from the get-go.

Here is the details in full, including a link to the actual shop (as opposed to the news thread above):

The winning sculpts from the 2009 FU!UK Pro-Am Sculpting Competition have been moulded and are now available for purchase in the Frothers Unite! - UK Shop (http://www.frothersunite.com/shop/).

There's tankers, shamblers, ankle-biters and an undead raven, plus survivors looking to escape the deadly horde (or truck back in and smash it's stupid undead head in).

Set 1 (£7 inc P&P) consists of the winning entries:
Intensive Care by Filin; Hunter with Axe and Zombie Girl by Sylvain Quirion.

Set 2 (£18 inc P&P) consists of 8 figures selected from the runners up: Cosplay Zombie by Vesa Mäkelä; Rising Zombie by Sjoerd Trouwee; Reporter and Cameraman by Andrew Rae; 2 Tank Zombies and a shambler with a snack by Snuurg; and Zombie Raven by Ben "Black Cat Bases" Parker.

Or buy the full "Undead Enchilada" set (£25 inc P&P), which includes all the miniatures above plus a bonus figure - a Zombie version of Colonel Marbles sculpted by Sylvain!

The figures will be available for TWO MONTHS ONLY, from 3 November 2009 to 2 January 2010.

As the Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union have agreed to help us celebrate by turning the UK's postal service into a zombie apocalypse over Christmas, please bear this in mind when planning your order!
