When you line up your buildings, sometimes they were not perfectly aligned across the fronts. A shop or restaurant could be set back by a foot to 3 feet to make room for outside displays or tables, or "just because". This gives a visual break up to an other wise straight line, adds places for ambushing agents or cover when under fire.  Awnings can be stuck on with "blue tack" to change the appearance of any shop and their easy to throw together.

Trash cans, Streetlight poles, telephone poles, trees, letter boxes, fire hydrants etc add some more cover and help bring the street to life.

Just thought to throw this out there for you while your in the early stages of construction ;)

Thanks for the suggestions, Alfrik. Any ideas for where to get some inexpensive trashcans? We have one, but we need a dozen or more.

You could always get some Lego ones and paint them!

(this is just the can, you would also need to get the lid, which can be found on the same sites)

If the item I like is hard to find or out of production, I tend to make a mold and cast it from resin or lead.

Steve Barber has cheap US stuff in their Prohibition range.

We picked up some of the Dust plastic building pieces while they were one sale. I gave it all a quick dry-brushing just so we could get it into a game right away  ---

I'm sure you're going to see more of it very soon.  :D

Dave,
That looks great.
How many sets did it take to make?
I have to wait for Christmas the sets that I got.
Did you paint it redbrown before drybrushing?
I look forward to seeing it in action.
ps what are you going to do with the walkers?

I don't really know. I got three different buildings and lumped all the pieces together. I'd guess this building used a little over half of the pieces.

I lightly dusted it with brown and gray spray paint before dry-brushing. It was a super-fast paintjob -- maybe 5 minutes from start to finish.

I'm really wanting to do some more armor vs armor games using the Pulp Alley vehicle rules.

That is a great piece of gaming terrain. I can see it being used in many different settings.
