Suitable for the 1770-1860 period from the Mahratta wars to the conquest of Gwalior and or course the Mutiny. Putty-pushing by Hicks Sahib as usual :

Why does the chap on the right in the uppermost photo (the one waving a giant rattle cum gourd) look like a chimpanzee? Is it a mask or is he meant to represent some sort of monkey god? Apart from that they look bloody nice.
-
There's nothing wrong with the sculpt : the figure is based on a real life character who was captured at Lucknow dressed up as the Hindu divinity Hanuman, as explained by Mike Snook in the Iron Duke FB page and the website's workbench section.
-
Cool, that explains it. It is a mask, I thought as much. I wasn't questioning Paul's sculpting skills, just curious to know what the figure represented.
-
Lovely figures.
:-* :-*

Very nice I really like those figures.
-
Incredible looking figures. So much character in the faces and detail overall. The Matchlockmen look amazing, and almost every leader sculpt seems based on a specific period photo.
I've never collected armies for the Mutiny/Great Rebellion, but this range is so very, very tempting.

Go for it - you only live once!
I’ve already got a load of this range in my lead mountain .... one day I’ll get around to painting them!
-
Lovely figures. Will definitely be adding them to my
lead pile collection. :D :D

Resistance is futile. Seriously, I was in a bit of a painting slump last year, mostly due to circumstances, and as soon as I started painting these I couldn't stop.

Lovely matchlocks, the command are great too.
From a commercial point of view I can't help but wonder if the Beloochi fellow and monkey man shouldn't have been kept for a character pack and their places in this release taken by more of the generic type command figures,as multiple purchases of this pack would leave you with too many "unique" minis,if that makes sense. :)
-
Agreed. I'd love that Baluch-looking cove for my Darkest Africa gaming, but as I have no use for the other three, I'll probably never get him. I'd rather like to be able to buy him as a single figure.
-
Lovely figures. I've thought about the Mahratta Wars ever since Redoubt brought out their Wellington in India range ages ago.

Once these are on order I intend to buy the set but will have no use for the monkey masked figure. I'll drop you a pm when they arrive and if you are still interested you are welcome to him.

Sadly Iron Duke figures will not match with Redoubt. Both are good but the Iron Duke figures are very slender. Quite exquisite in many ways but you have to watch the joints with the bayonets.

Thanks, Hu Rhu, but I was referring to the fellow on the extreme left, who looks like he's a Baluchi, not the monkey fella. :)

Sorry Plynkes but you can't have him. :-X He's the best sculpt in the pack. lol lol lol

Bah!
I appreciate the original (mistaken) offer, though, I really do. Though I suspect that Monkey Man is going to be sitting unloved on many people's lead piles. :)

Not in mine, I assure you! Like it a lot. It has a lot of personality.
