10mm Pony Wars Figures...
« on: March 12, 2024, 04:45:27 PM »
Can anyone help with a bit of advice, please. Who makes the best 10mm Pony Wars range of figures. My 15mm project stalled nearly two years ago. Might sell them off and go really big in 10mm!

???

My "go to" for anything 10mm is Pendraken Miniatures, they have a Plains War range ( https://www.pendraken.co.uk/10mm-19th-century-americas-plains-war ).

There are 100 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data.

Pendraken would be my first go to. I have a number of their figures, not the Indian War range,
and they are always well done with a number of poses. I don't think you would be disappointed.

Harry, Harry, Harry - foregoing your 15 mm!?  :o

You can also look at Irregular Miniatures, they have plains wars Indians, slouch hat figures from ACW, and hunt around the Colonial range for a few things - like a gatling gun (need to replace the crew likely).

Both Irregular and Pendraken have animals you can use.  I don't think I'd mix the people from Pendraken and Irregular, maybe in separate units, but the animals and scenics from Irregular might work well.

Do keep in mind that Pendraken's figures tend on the smaller side.  I have their Vietnam stuff and had I known how small they were I would not have bought them but will use them, especially with all the heavy equipment they make.

If you are still chasing a Pony Wars size collection, keep in mind you do not need anywhere near as many mounted Indians as they used, just recycle.  I went seriously overboard with my 15 mm Old West/Pony Wars but you don't have to, whether in 15 mm or 10 mm.

My biggest recommendation, is stick with 15 mm and reinvigorate your mojo somehow.   ;)

In order to further my reputation as trouble maker: Harry, you need to go to OB's post and find my link to my blog with all the 15 mm critters!  Just to see what you'd be missing if you went with 10 mm.

(Actually, Irregular do have 10 mm bison.)
