Title: Zombicide Miniatures from the Muzfish bowl
Post by: Muzfish4 on January 03, 2016, 08:25:22 AM
Hello all,

After lurking and posting the odd comment for the last few months I have finally gotten my act together and have a few photos of my own to share.

These are all for the Zombicide boardgame. If there is any interest I will to add more miniatures to this  as I finish them (slow going as the House of Fish is undergoing renovations and my painting time and space are limited). Anyway, here is the first tranche I have finished:

Benny:

Benny's back story is that he is an entertainer who performs at childrens parties and was doing his 'soldier' character when the apocalypse hit. As I didn't want him to look 'too' authentic I gave him blue wristbands rather then fingerless gloves, a dodgy red (raspberry?) beret with a nebulous badge and gold-framed 'IR goggles'.  His zombivor has gone purple; I meant it to be more a grey-purple but this looks necrotic enough, I think.

Brad:

Brad is a crime lord and starts with a .44 magnum, surely a co-incidence that he resembles a certain Mayor of Carmel who these days spends his time directing movies and addressing empty chairs.  Brad is in the finest late 1970's/ early 1980's suit I could paint. His zombivor is a pale green - might have been infected by a toxic zombie.

Kirk:

In his time Kirk has knocked back more than a few cheeseburgers which probably hastened his fall from being the pre-eminent martial artist in town. These days though he has rediscovered his old skills and is out there fighting the good fight. This zombivor has turned a nice shade of grey-blue.

Quite nice, especially Kirk, but then I'm biased. He's one of my favorite characters to play.  :)

I'm not sold on the purple skin on Benny's Zombivor, but it is certainly distinctive.

Thanks for the kind words.

Shannon:

Shannon is something of an ex-military survivor and the first one on this list not to bear a remarkable (and totally coincidental) resemblance to characters from the big and/or small screen. I'm pretty happy with how both versions of her turned out. The zombivor skin is far less 'vivid' than Benny (above); the greenish tinge is meant to suggests she may have been infected by a toxic zombie.

Are you sure? I can't find anything to the contrary but I swear I know this person the fight is based off.
But I been loving your progress. Love to see painted Zombicide figs.

I saw this already but didn't read the very last comment.
And I can see it now being Jordan from GI Jane with Shannon being a soldier.
I was having trouble because I was tunnel visioning on the shotguns.
The for the leg up Zizi.

Thanks for the kind words.  I was under the impression that most of the miniatures in the boxes (Shannon is from Season Two: Prison Outbreak) were 'generic' while the one-offs and stretch goals are based on certain well-known characters.

I guess Season One Phil is Rick from the Walking Dead and Doug is Michael Douglas from Falling Down.I speculate that Louise from Rue Morgue is based on Riveter, but can't place the others.

That said, I'd be happy to see her as a cross between Sinead O'Connor and a character from GI Jane (which I have not seen but can pretty much guess what the character types are like).

Next cab off the rank will be Lucius, not sure I'll stick with his 'suggested' colour scheme.

Okay, so after a bit of a hiatus (mainly due to renovations, work travel and other 'real life' distractions) here is Lucius in all his glory:

It's not the greatest paint-job in the world, but this isn't the greatest of the Zombicide miniatures. Anyway, another one down and then 95 or so to go before I start on the zombies. This will be something of a long term project.....

Got a bit more done recently:

Dakota the Convict:

She'll continue to wander to post-apocalyptic world in search of a shirt that fits.

Bear:

Not  a bad miniature to paint - a bit of character there so no real dramas. I was pretty pleased the way his overalls came up and the nailbat too seems to look the part on the miniature.

Got another two finished which is pretty good, at least for me.

Thaissa:

Not a bad miniature to paint. I experimented with the auburn hair and think it came out alright.

Donna:

Donna is an interesting sculpt in that it's one of the few (the only?) Zombicide sculpts with a zombie casualty on the base. Adds a bit of interest to the miniature. I also rather like how the zombivor has lost one shoe - tells a bit of a story.

Just for fun, I decided to use the GW 'Bloodletter Red' glaze on the survivor miniature while leaving the zombivor unglazed. I took the photo before any subsequent 'dirtying up'. The glaze does make a bit of a difference.

After a fair bit of other stuff I have finally returned to this project.

Here's Ross, note the bowling ball (which is a distinct, and deadly, piece of equipment in the game) in his trusty shoulder satchel:

And here is Leroy, the mild mannered accountant. But beneath every account lurks a Disco King:

I hope you like them.

Loving the choices for skin tones, especially Donna and Shannon,  they really pop visually... nothing worse in my mind than painting all your zombies the same shade of green. Flesh is a wonderfully varied thing of many tones and shades, especially once rigamortis sets in lol

Sorry all,

This shouldn't be at the top of the 'new stuff' list as I have only replaced the dead Photobucket links with new and working Ingur links.

Bit of a pain but at least the images are visible again.
