Start of a new 15mm project. This time Fantasy for RPG Dungeon crawling, Hordes of the Things, ADLG and Fantastic Battles.
Female Barbarian
-
Brill. What range is this from? I must tackle my Barbarica packs soon.
-
Brill. What range is this from? I must tackle my Barbarica packs soon.
It's from Khurasan.
-
Loved the musketeers so looking forward to seeing how ths pans out.
-
Looking awesome Deano!
Would love to see the result of you applying paint to those Battle Valor Figures, they aren't quite as fine as those characters from Mr K I believe, but very nice all the same!
-
Beautiful paintjob Deano!!
I have also painted the Tom Meier Khurasan minis and they are easily the best 15mm figures out there, which means small with loads of detail!
-
That mini is 15mm? OMG :o :-* That is both an amazing sculpt and some fantastic painting. Nicely done!
-
Another from Khurasan - A Dwarf Fighter
-
Lovely painting!
-
WOW, 15mm stunning paint job :-* :-* :-*
-
Halfling Thief.
Struggled getting a good photo, but here it is...
-
You're a mad genius- why would you even think it was a good idea to give a 15mm halfling thief striped trousers...and yet it looks amazing! The others are great too, especially the skin tones on that barbarian.
Next one I want to see tartan pattern!
-
Fantastic work as always Steve.
-
I've painted 28mm models worse than you paint 15mm models.
This is intimidating... :'(
-
Another really tiny one - A Gnome Wizard
-
He's brilliant. And these are 15mm? Ye gods, my eyes ache just thinking about it.
-
Very nice. Awesome painting.
-
Female Cleric
-
A Paladin
-
That is very nice painting.
-
The Little Adventurers look WONDERFUL. Your level of brushwork & attention to details along with a FINE eye for colors is OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE indeed!
-
Really great painting!
Who makes the gnome. Is it new from Khurasan?
-
Yes, they're all Kurasan
-
Elf Warrior
-
A female Monk
-
Really stunning painting! :-*
-
Even given their diminutive stature, you do have some WONDERFULLY expressive faces in the crew. VERY WELL DONE once more!
-
I would believe if they told me these are 25-28 mm.
Superb painting !
-
Wow! :o These are all fantastic! :-*
-
:-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Some Demonworld Skeletons
-
<lovely painting. The high contrast really works well with them.
-
Those skeletons are beauties.
Looks, like I'll be digging out my Demonworld minis which I bought years ago and never got around to painting. Damn you!
P.s. Found them..... double damn you!
-
more skeletons
-
Great work on the skeletons. The Demon World range has some great figures in it.
-
more Skeletons.
-
Yet more cracking paintwork!
-
More Skeletons. That makes 12, enough for a unit in DR and enough to worry some low level Dungeon adventurers.
-
Skellies are a quick and easy army to paint in 15mm. I painted hundred years ago for a mate. But nothing like these. Absolutely lovely..
-
Damn, the paintwork on those really makes them look fantastic. I've dug out my Demonworld Dwarves and remember being a bit dismissive of them when I bought them years ago, I think the fact that there were only 2 poses in a pack annoyed me - young and foolish. Now that I'm older and wiser (hah!) I realise that Ral Partha make some very gorgeous sculpts, and with a bit of creative converting I can start making a nice little warband with some more variety.
Consider me a 15mm fantasy convert, poor old 10mm on the backburner again. Boo.
-
An Anti-Paladin from 15mm.co.uk
-
Lovely and a fantastic face!
-
another one
-
very nice indeed :-* :-*
-
Im not sure, what amazes me more: Tom Meier's sculpts or your awesome painting!
-
another Anti-Paladin
-
15mm Really !? Fantastic paint job (
-
I am currently working on some 15mm fantasy stuff, and I must say your painting is incredible- you have set a very high benchmark that I can only hope to aspire too. top marks from me.
-
another one ..
-
The first completed figure of my Dragon Rampant project. A Barbarian Chieftain riding a bear, from Copplestone Casting's fantastic range of 15mm fantasy figures. He will lead the barbarian warband and count as a reduced model unit.
-
:-*
-
I would not have guessed that barbarian on the bear was 15mm, either from the sculpt, the painting, or the picture. Very impressive!
-Michael
-
A Demonworld - 15mm Orc Shaman from Ral Partha
-
:-*
-
One figure better than the other! I don't know which to praise most! Cracking job! :-* Cheers!
-
15mm?!?!? That is amazing both as a sculpt and as a paint job. Wow.
-
Really nice painting.
-
Really cool project & excellent painting too!
Following with interest, as I'm planning my first-ever dive into 15mm this very day. ;)
-
This is a Magician element for my Chaos Army, one of many 15mm Hordes of the Things armies I have on the back burner. They're old GW Chaos familiars, which I think work fine for 15mm.
-
Amazing! Old familiars work amazingly well with 15mm and yours are superbly painted.
-
They look terrific! And I'd suspect that they'll get much more table time as 15mm magicians than as 28mm familiars.
-
Rebased my Skeletons for Hordes of the Things..
-
Gosh! Those undead are fantastic!
-
They look terrifying on a well staged scenic! Vignettes on their own! Congrats!
-
15mm Orc Warbands - Ral Partha Demonworld figures
-
Lovely painting on those orcs and those skeletons.
-
Another four bases of warband for my 15mm HotT Orc army.
-
Astonishing work & brilliant colours.
Especially when these minis are shown at double or even quadruple their real size! :o
-
These are splendid! I love the cow-hide shields.
-
Gorgeous greenskins.
-
A Barbarian Giant from Copplestone Castings
-
really nice additions :-*
-
I like the green tone skin of your Orcs and wow! the Barbarian Giant is terrific!
Cheers!
-
Fabulous giant Steve - even though he’s really quite small ;)
-
Crossbow armed Orcs from Ral Partha, based for HotT
-
nice work skin tone
-
Lovely job, really like the demonworld range and it's looking great in these posts.
-
Super impressive as always...
-
Thanks for the comments.
Here's some more for the 15mm HotT Orc army. A couple of bases of Trolls (Behemoths).
-
Great contrast and clean gradients on those trolls, man. They look almost 28mm with that paint job - I mean, suitable as 29mm trolls, they probably stand that high to begin with.
-
Great shading and skin hue! And although they are only two poses, you managed them to look four individual! Cheers!
-
A Demonworld Orc Shaman based for HotT, from Ral Partha.
-
Another 15mm Orc Shaman from Ral Partha
-
Bloody fantastic brushwork on those orcs!
-
Great looking minis!
-
these are really nice indeed
-
That's absolutely insane for 15mm. Amazing painting.
-
This guy is actually a Frostgrave figure, but I think he works well as a giant in 15mm. He's the new addition to my 15mm Barbarian HotT army.
-
nice indeed
-
It's getting even better.
What Frostgrave mini is that?
-
It's getting even better.
What Frostgrave mini is that?
It's the Frost Giant, from the bestiary section.
-
An Orc Hero riding a giant spider for my Hordes of the Things Army. A Demonworld figure from Ral Partha
-
What a paintjob! The Orc is impressive and the spider looks almost real!
-
An Orc Hero riding a giant spider for my Hordes of the Things Army. A Demonworld figure from Ral Partha
Ah look, its Lucas the Spider. :-)
Grimm
-
Demonworld Orc wolf riders from Ral Partha.
-
I wish I could paint my 28mm half as good as our 15mm. looks amazing.
-
Beautifully painted models. I'm still learning how to paint 15mms. What technique(s) do you use? I mostly paint them same way I paint 25mm+ but from what I'm seeing around, it seems that "painted" shadows and lights work best with the smaller scale.
-
15mm Barbarians from Copplestone Castings. Fantastic sculpts, I wish he make more....
-
Wow, beautiful sculpts with great detail, highlighted by your outstanding paintjob! Cheers!
-
15mm Barbarians from Copplestone Castings. Fantastic sculpts, I wish he make more....
Oooooooh. Fabulous Steve. You put mine to shame.
I wish he’d make more too. Esp Pict characters and command. They are just gorgeous little figures.
-
Thanks guys.
-
Another base of 15mm Barbarians from Copplestone..
-
You've done the eyes perfectly! They look really ANGRY!!!
-
Just superb! So full of character, which is a real achievement for 15s.
-
Another Warband element for my 15mm Barbarian HotT army. Figures by Copplestone.
-
nice additions
-
Brilliant. Love that figure on the right. For some reason I don’t have him. God damned random assortment packs!
You’re doing a lovely job with these Steve.
-
It's work like this the proves i'm need going to be more than a tabletop level painter. Wow great stuff...
-
Another base of Copplestone 15mm Barbarians.
-
Standard top notch! Cheers!
-
The General for my 15mm HotT Barbarian army. The guy in the middle is a Demonworld figure from Ral Partha.
-
Wow! Impressive once more! So good sculpts and your painting adds to their 3d-ness! So perfect paintjob with an eye to detail! The axe! The elk skin! Lovely! After you finish this set it will be great for us to see all the bases together! ;D
-
Splendid. The Demonworld figure is a great fit with the Copplestones. :-*
-
Only just seen this thread but have been admiring them on Facebook.
Beautiful work :-*
-
Such nice work! I'm painting 15s at the moment, and there is absolutely no danger of me producing anything like this!
-
Thanks guys :-)
-
Absolutely superb! That RPE figure works splendidly with the Copplestone ones.
-
obelix pants are spot on! :-*
-
A Wizard's oops! marker for Hordes of the Things.
-
15mm Empire Artillery from Ral Partha's Demonworld range of figures. I can never get a good photo of this kind of thing, so here's a few different shots.
-
Splendid painting on a 15mm!!! set of figures!
And the wood grain! Oooh!
-
eyes ... in 15/18mm ... good grief. ;D
-
Thanks for all the kind comments guys.
Here's some Empire handgunners to go with the artillery. Figures are from Essex miniatures.
-
Brilliant! A 15mm Empire army. Great painting, dude.
-
15mm Cleric base for Hordes of the Things. Demonworld figures from Ral Partha Europe.
-
That's awesome!
-
Does Hordes of the Things have a resources page ? or anything. A forum or a blog?
I will be bitterly dissapointed if there is naught but a Facebook group.
-
That's awesome!
+1 (can't add more lol )
-
WOW...the chair is great. I wish I could paint so well.
-
15mm Knights for the Hordes of the Things Empire army. Figures by Essex miniatures.
-
exquisite.
-
any particular hint or trick to paint those spiraled lances, or is it just: firm hand, patience and be like Steve Dean? :)
-
any particular hint or trick to paint those spiraled lances, or is it just: firm hand, patience and be like Steve Dean? :)
Just patience and some swearing.
-
I'll try swearing more! ;D
Your latest work on this thread really convinced me that medieval/fantastic humans need to be multicolored/non-uniform, really adds something to the miniatures
top job! :)
-
Another base of 15mm Empire Knights
-
Lush :-*
-
15mm Witch riding a broomstick from Khurasan miniatures.
-
From which set is the witch, if I may ask?
Haven’t seen her afaik.

Another lovely job Deano, such smooth painting on such a tiny mini.
Out of interest are these villagers for a game or just for kicks?
-
A big thanks to Steve for his brushwork !
The villagers will be part of a bigger thing in the future ...
-
...intriguing... :D
-
Last of the 15mm Orc Villagers from Khadrin's Miniatures and a group shot.
-
They just need a village now :D
-
The group shot is all the money! :-*
-
Great figures which I didn't even know existed. ::) Usual excellent painting.
-
Those really are excellent Steve. Great little figures, and such lovely painting :-*
-
Being presented only the group shot, without any comment, hardly anyone would identify them as 15mm, I'd say.
Excellent work from both the sculptor and the painter. :-*
-
To celebrate the release of a new 15mm Barbarian giant and the promise of more 15mm Fantasy from Copplestone Castings , here's a group shot of my 15mm HotT Barbarian Warbands to date. Hopefully I'll pick up the new Giant at Hammerhead in a few weeks.
-
just beautiful. Really. Better than most 28mm I've seen. So smooth and bright. Wish you'd do a 'how to' book, although I wouldn't be able to produce such results if you did ...
-
They are excellent sculpts and your paintjob gave them life!
-
Splendid Steve. Must paint a few more myself. I have about 200 of the little buggers still to do... lol
-
Dean,
Just wanted to say first love your work. Always a pleasure to view your works.
And second, i know you use and post on Facebook and wanted to say thank you for not only just posting there. And for posting to other places as well.
May not mean anything to anyone else, but means something to me.
Keep it up. Wanna drool some more. ;-)

-
15mm Frost Giant from Copplestone Castings.

Wow, there is some really inspirational work in here. It hurts my brain to think about doing eyes that small. I can't even manage that at 28mm!
-
Just now I realized that the giant is of 15mm scale! Impressive!
-
The Giant... :o

-
A Frostgrave Cyclops from North Star used as a Giant in my 15mm Barbarian army.
-
Many likes! :-*
-
I'm doing the same mistake over and over again. Had a look on each of your pages here and thought: "How? HOW does he do THAT?" If I didn't own many of the figures myself, I'd bet 100 Euros that they are 28mm ones. Your level of detail on such tiny guys is breathtaking. o_o o_o o_o
-
Agree I will have to up my game on painting my figures as well!
-
Pretty good idea to put the cyclops into a 15mm army. Looks splendid and even better sized than next to 28mm.
-
A couple more bases of 15mm Orcs from Ral Partha
-
Very inspiring again. The shields are awesome!
-
15mm Cavemen from Khurasan Miniatures, being used as skirmishers for my Barbarian army.
-
Excellent! Fantastic sculpts and your painting showed all their dynamism!
-
Fantastic stuff, the painting is superb, the details are incredible for such a smaller scale. I'd mistake them for 28's had it not said otherwise.
-
Ery nice additions. Thoase Khurasan cavemen seem to fit very well with the Copplestone barbarians.
-
Lovely additions as ever - I’m also sniffing around that cyclops now.

15mm Wolves from Khurasan Miniatures.
Stunning, just little the monkeys (and everything else)
IS 15 the new 28?
-
The giant and the cyclopes are f'ing amazing.
-
Is it time? Do we collectively organize? And then demand - demand, I say - that Mr. Dean gives a detailed painting tutorial on how he achieves brilliance? Come on, man, you've been doing this knocking over 30 years, time to share. Please. :D
-
You continue to impress - wonderful stuff.
-
15mm Barbarians from Copplestone Castings. Many more to come.
-
Lush. One of my favourite little characters in the range, that mini Conan-alike. Beautifully done Steve.

These are really 150mm figures, right? It's just a typo in the title... ;D
Fantastic work as usual, Deano! :-* 8) :-*

Another base of 15mm Barbarians from Copplestone Castings.

By golly, you are churning these out...
I recognise all the Cimmerians, but don’t recognise all the hairy bearded figures from the Northmen packs (although I know there are a lot of variants). Have you mixed in some of the new Ice Tribe figures too?
I’m still waiting on the Ice Tribe command / character packs to appear before I dive into those. Also the Pict command - still! Then I’m going to get going on these again... ::)
Beautiful job Steve 8)

Not a great pic, but here's my completed 15mm Orc army for ADLG. I have more things to add to it to give some build options, but as it stands it's a 200pt army. They get their first outing on Friday :-)
-
That's just stunning work
Hope you enjoy Friday!
-
Awesome; a cohesive brutal looking force.
-
stunning army
-
Splendid. :-* :-* :-*
-
Absolutely brilliant! I presume you'll be pitting them against the barbarians. Would love to see some shots of such a game.
-
I decided to add a few Fantasy elements to my 15mm Ottoman army. Here's a Wizard (Crom's Anvil) and his Genie (Reaper).
-
very nice indeed
-
Ooooo lovely job, you've blended the two scales of minis together well and such lovely colours on the genie particularly.
-
Ooooo lovely job, you've blended the two scales of minis together well and such lovely colours on the genie particularly.
This! :-*
-
Yeah, very nicely done.
-
Wow, the skin tones on the Genie are awesome. The setting of the base looks to work very well. But I pity the Wizard once his three whishes are used up, that Genie does not look very happy with him! >:D
-
That's a terrific magician element! In HotT (and equivalent), there's a real opportunity to do something imaginative and striking like this - much better than a cloaked fellow standing forlornly on an oversized base!
-
Some pics from our 15mm Orcs v Barbarians battle using the ADLG rules. A victory for the Orcs :-)
-
Both armies look great! Must have been a very enjoyable game!
-
Now that's the sort of 15mm game played at the back of Plato's cave! I hadn't noticed the second rank in the orcish heavy-infantry elements. Looks tremendous!
-
fantastic looking game.

Art De La Guerre, it's a set of Ancient/Medieval rules, similar to DBM

Lovely stuff - thinking of doing something similar.
-
That is a pretty epic looking battle. Very nice!
-
My next Fantasy 15mm ADLG project will be a Chaos Demon army. Here's a WIP of the Demon camp, an OOP 28mm Grenadier Cthulhu miniature from the last millennium.

Oh, awesome!
-
Whoah! That's tremendous!
-
A Stirge from Reaper Miniatures makes a good 15mm flying Demon.
-
From this angle it looks like a flying platypus! An awesomely painted flying platypus of course.
-
From this angle it looks like a flying platypus!
That was my initial reaction too! Somehow, I was much more excited when I thought it was a flying platypus. I already had my wallet in hand lol
-
Brilliant again! I've got a 15mm chaos army under way too - this is both inspirational and daunting!

What wash are you using when you do your washes, It looks real nice, but not darkening everything to much, or are you doing a lot of re-highlighting ? Your mini's are quite nice, I like my paint job ( im into 15mm also,) but your are definiately nicer! good job.

-
Do I spy an Irregular Miniatures 6mm Giant?

Tremendous painting on all of these, as ever! The big giant is especially good!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ;)
