Colonial troops ready for Abyssinia game. Painted over two days!
Not the prettiest, but do the job! 1/72nd HAT WWI Colonial British.

If it isn't enjoyable, it isn't gaming!

I think they look superb even if the mould misalignments are prominent. What about the Abyssinians themselves?

Ah, they look superb! I have the same models on my painting table and they look completely different (much, much worse) than yours...

Just in case it matters, Tin Shed Gamer did a sculpt of his majesty Haile Selassie, which I thought was available from Empress as part of their Abyssinian line, but it seems I'm wrong on that?

I'll poke Mark to see where the Emperor might be found.

Well, your paint job certainly helps hide the misalignment. I had to look for it on the figures.

Yeah, but these are 20mm slash 1/72 scale figures, so don't think Empress would be of much use to the original poster. Also the reason why I enquired after the natives, as I don't think anyone else besides Stonewall Figures and Raventhorpe make them.

I think Tin Shed Gamer's sculpt is now sold by First Corps ?

Anyway, photo of the figure (and a contemporary 54mm representation of Hailie Selassie) here:

leadboy, I take it that you don't care much for Mr Portway's figures, given that you couldn't even be bothered to mention them in your one contribution to this thread?

Will take some pics of the natives and Royal guard later on , busy weekend!

Hang Tuah - I'm sorry, I don't know you, nor Phil Portway, and fail to understand what I did so wrong to cause you to make such a comment. I thought I contributed some information about the Hailie Selassie figure, which information might prevent some people scurrying off to the Empress website when the First Corps site was the right destination. I've always found this site a friendly enough place, and hope it doesn't change. Phil, I don't know much about the Italo-Abyssinian war, but thanks for posting a pic of your figures and I don't think any alleged misalignment is obvious now that they're painted. I'll leave you to Hang Tuah with my regards.

Sorry for delay in replying, but no-one else has mentioned them. You should definitely check out 20mm Early War Miniatures: varied sets of Italians and their colonial allies, including spare head packs for headswaps and some lovely Dubat irregulars; and a good range of Ethiopian tribesmen and Imperial Guard on the other side. No Haile Selassie yet unfortunately.

Standard disclaimer, no connection except as a satisfied customer, but Paul at EWM makes some of the best figures around!
