Bolt Action - Russians/Germans
« on: June 28, 2014, 10:07:08 PM »
Got some pictures of a battle played out last Friday:  http://jayswargamingmadness.blogspot.com/2014/06/bolt-action-russians-vs-germans.html

Note --- my Germans are all done for western front ... we'll be adding eastern front Germans ... but yes, the tanks in the pictures are clearly not in the correct camo pattern for the eastern front.

Enjoy!

Very cool looking armies and a stunning table. Love that kind of eye candy!

Can you please elaborate on the stands that you built for your planes? Mine look similar, but I am wondering how you have managed to fix them in that angle? You are not using a magnet to attach the plane to the stand, are you?

Cheers,
Thomas

I did a post on how to create them:  http://jayswargamingmadness.blogspot.com/2014/06/destroyed-vehicle-markers.html

Tea lights, cotton balls and black spray primer ...

Yes, absolutely.  I got a 12" length of 1/2" clear plastic rod from Tap Plastics (a plastic shop near where I live).  I also bought a length of 1/8" plastic rod and a special plastic drill bit.  The 1/2" rod - at the end - gives you a decent sized surface (the flat end).  I drilled into the top at a 30 degree angle ... about as deep as I could go without going all the way through.  At the other end I drilled 1/2 way into a 60mm round MDF base and set the 1/2" rod into the MDF base.  I then used 1/2" washers (4 large washers ... 3 small) ... taped off the clear rod (to keep from getting spray paint on it) ... spray painted the washers and base black ... removed the tape, then I used a hot glue gun to glue clump foliage to cover up the washers and base.

For the airplanes, I used the 1/8" plastic rod ... fitted it into each plane (required some cutting for some of the planes to fit it) ... glue in the rod to the airplanes leaving about an inch or so exposed ... now they just fit in the hole I cut in the top of the 1/2" rod ... and they are at that 30 degree angle ... so it looks like they are diving in.

Hopefully that all makes sense ...

Jay

Those destroyed vehicle markers are very effective. Have to try my hand at making some.
