Downloaded an Arcane Gateway from Thingiverse and printed it on my 3D printer.

I still need to print out the translucent swirly portal piece -- transparent pla filament on order.

It cost me around a dollar or so in filament to print.

Very nice. This 3D printing malarkey seems to be the way forward.

Looks awesome! I think that I must consider to put a 3Dprinter on my wish list!

Here's a question, Jennifer. Does your printer constantly print a build platform?

I went in on a printer with my uncle, and I'm getting irritated by the constant build platform that's throwing off multipart models. If you know how to disable it, it'd be great to know.

Also, I'm gonna be using those plinths. They look great.

Oh the rafts? You need them I believe.  I am new to 3D printing.. I just take em off with metal hell's kitchen spatula and toss em in the trash.  Didn't notice them messing up scale -- maybe you can elaborate.

Thanks for the complement on the plinths.  Glad you can use em :)

It's not the scale, it's more, well. There's an extra chunk of plastic where there shouldn't be, on the bottom. Since I've been trying to print some multi-part figures, well....

I guess I'll settle myself to filing it down. Ah well.

What printer do you have, what software are you using and what printer driver?

Love your work with the paper mâché in particular, with scratchbuilds you can always achieve a greater surface texture I believe than with any casting or printing (although I'm very impressed by your 3d printed archway). Get yourself some extruded polystyrene sheets -used for underfloor heating and some foamcard, they're my favourite materials for building floors and buildings.

I'm going to try some paper mâché next though, very inspiring and creative work! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your complements.  Your work is so breathtaking.

foamcard? is that foam board?  I use that.  I buy the dollar tree foam board, the paper peels off easily.

I use a lot of 1" thick and 1/2" thick pink rigid insulation as well.  Not familiar with this polystyrene sheets for under the flloor.

I built the following dice tower with fence picket, wall panel, foam board (adhered to wood and textured), 1/2" thick rigid insulation (for the ruined battlement), 1" thick rigid insulation (for the stairs), more foam board (cobblestone) and paper mache for fence.  I'll probably 3D print a functioning gate to round it off :)

Castle Ruins -- Front

I built this as a dual purpose DM Scotty "Tilescapes Front" (for DnD) and as a standalone wargaming ruins piece.

Many more ruin pieces to build for Frostgrave!  The Keep scenario is demanding! :)

For someone new to the hobby that is a very impressive start!!
You are right about this forum. It seems to attract the right people. I dont think there are any trolls, flamers or haters on it and the discussions are nice and mature.
Also there is always someone who has the right answer when you are looking for tips and tricks to do something.

Another excellent piece, and I agree about the Forum.

It certainly seems 3D printers are making a big impact in our little wargaming scene. To think I laughed at my buddy when he told me 12 months ago that within a year they'd be cheap enough to be home-based like a PC.
I know the voices aren't real .... but they have such FASCINATING ideas!

Working on a couple dozen or so bookshelves for "The Library" scenario.

Here's my first test one -- future ones will having nice wood grain as well as the top piece of wood reaching edge to edge concealing the currently visible side boards:
