Which miniatures?
« on: December 31, 2012, 11:25:05 PM »
I decided to make this a separate thread, instead of derailing the lurker list thread.

I'm still waiting for my rulebooks to arrive, so I don't yet have the lurker profiles to go by, and there are a couple units that I'm having trouble figuring out the appearance or lovecraft equivalent of. I'd like to have the miniatures ordered soon so everything can arrive together.

What are the following units supposed to look like, or what miniatures would work best for them?

The Kindred
Deadly Spawn
The Horror
Servitor
Mojo
Poltergeist
Mushroom Forest (a whole forest?)

I made these out of clay.

I know Scotia Grendel makes some cool mushrooms.  I thought there were some D and D mushroom minis as well.

The scotia pieces are nice. Do you just get the two pieces for £8?
In a similar vein Hasslefree, reaper and ralpartha also make mushroom men..

....DeafNala also makes some cracking mushrooms  :)

I used a reaper ghost for a poltergeist and a floating child from Hasslefree for a Mojo.

The sickle in the fruitful field;
The sword he sung a song of death,
But could not make the sickle yield."

The Kindred
It is a goatmen. You could use an equivalent of GW Beastmen, I guess.

Deadly Spawn
A demonic baby of a kind? There is one in Helldorado range, if IIRC, but somewhat expensive

The Horror
Dunwich horror in Lovecraft's stories. I made my own :P

Servitor
EM4 has them, some others as well, i think

Mojo
Poltergeist
Both ghosts, anything works imo

Mushroom Forest (a whole forest?)
CD template with some mushrooms, make your own :P

Isn't The Horror/Wilbur's twin brother invisible?

Maybe one could do something with just a base with like a furrow or a snail trail to imply that something evil and invisible is rolling there.

It was visible when they threw that powder at it.
And I've just reminded, theres a nice Tengu models' Son of Yog-sothot miniature, good for the horror. Its picture is in the ST3, at the 6th dunwich scenario, i think.

Those Small Games workshop Beastmen are good enough Kindred, not perfect, but will do. but you will need some parts to spice them up with, Shotguns and pistols and farm tools. Properly some parts from normal human would be nice also.
hope someone else on the board have a good links for such bits,

Someone have a picture of that deadly spawn baby from helldorado?

I took a hasselfree little girl as a mojo. I forget who it was who I blatantly pilfered the idea from, but I took the exact same model. I was going to put it on a flight stand but I thought it creepier to just have it standing on a base. I was watching Heroes season 2 at the time, and so I gave it black, bleeding eyes.

Really creepy.

Here a few that I have used:

Horror - I loved the confrontation evil dwarves and so had one of each of these lying around...

I also had these which vary in size enough to cover both a horror and a spawn...

For ghosts and other spirits, I like these reaper ones...I think they are due to come out in cheap bones versions which will be nice as well...

For kindred I use minis from everywhere with beastmen being great for sure.  These are the best hillbillies I could find.  My favorites are the two holding jugs and whenever I get a third eye, these are the models that come out...
