A good start, but you had better get painting!! lol
I am looking forward to this! Sounds like a good vehicle for future madness with the usual suspects. Good work, stay the course!
Excellent! You are doing a nicer job on the buildings than I did. What is your technique?
Be warned, that is the same set I started with and now I have about double that!
The gondolas are nice models. Quite useful, in one game one of my werewolf PCs leapt onto a passing gondola, then off the other side onto a villa's steps, saving him having to fight his way across a defended bridge!
Mind you, I expect that probably scared the crap out of the hapless gondolier!! lol
I've given this a lot of thought, and come up with the name 'Il Verde Ponte'. ;)

Great job, just a detail: in Italian normally the substantive precedes the adjective, so it should be il Ponte Verde (unless you are being very poetic...)
Very nice job on the bridge.
Many thanks for the correction. I've amended my notes accordingly, cheers. It's nice to have things right.
Thank you, Sunjester.
Another detail: Carnevale is masculine in Italian, so it takes a masculine article, ie IL Carnvale...
I'm particularly impressed with the dry brushing/stippling on the plaza, male/female I don't care, it still looks good.
great stuff.
would try and get some weathering in the buildings / terrain if poss. (but more than undertand in terms of time / results).
dab some white glue here and there, and chuck some sand / gravel on?
apologies if already discussed above etc.
Bloggard, thanks for taking the time to comment and I think you are right. However, I get easily distracted and speed is of the essence here, to complete 12 buildings, various bridges, fountains and the streets, plus enough minis and gondolas to play the game. Also, I had an idea, bearing in mind the background of the 'Rent in the Sky', that I wanted a slight 'comic-book' feel to some colourful scenery. I thought the light from the sky would be rather macabre, bearing in mind what's coming through the Rent. Perhaps all the magic floating around in the ether gives the buildings a slightly unreal feel to them (and is a good excuse to cover up my laziness!). ;)
This maddened sleepless fervour, the endless blend of days and night, the pulsing unnatural light of the rent in the sky: in the face of this why not live for tonight? That’s why two years ago when Easter arrived the Carnevale did not end, and has not yet finished. Every night is soaked in alcohol and desperate frivolity, as the city loses all sense of time and place. It is 1795 and the end seems close.
I have to say that this quote from a post above, seems to also describe the bacchanalian jamboree that is the Annual General Meeting of the Gentlemen of Much-Piddling!
More very attractive work, Martin. And I must say that, at my age, I do like the idea of "an additional OAP jump", whatever that may involve ;)

You really should advertise your gatherings. I suspect many of us wouldn't mind attending...
This is all looking marvellous, great building and painting.
The photos of your work here is putting my attempts with the same buildings to shame. I look forward to seeing the games!
Very nice!
I must object however, just when I thought I had all the buildings I would ever need for Venice, you post a picture of this! lol
looking nice, wish I had that kind of space
And he now gets to charge 5 euros to anyone who visits, so he should be able to make some money back lol
Think Ankh-Morpork, maybe...
where you can walk on the canals?
actually, a couple of bits of debris for the canals could be interesting... is there rules for crossing the water?
I would consider some poorer/more derelict looking palazzi as well - maybe an entire quarter, that doesn't look so colourful. Think Ankh-Morpork, maybe...
This is a superb project! Great idea and fantastically executed!
Are you basing any buildings on actual ones or using gamers licence? One thing about Venice that stuck in my mind was all the slightly leaning spires / towers. Will you be adding a leaning tower?
Where did you get the gondola from fella?
Dry nice…I’m almost tempted to have a go myself! 🤪🤪
If you were a tad closer than Devon…I’d definitely have a go…..but I have FAR too many projects already on the go…..🤔
All the streets are now assembled, just need painting now!

Great stuff, Sir. Keep up the good work. :D
Looking good. Piles of barrels and packing crates would be a good addition too perhaps?
Superb! Perhaps some barrels of fish for the more down-market area (if any part of your Venice is "down-market" at all)? lol
They would be great for my pirate gaming…do you have a link please ?
Some excellent scatter you’ve added recently, Martin….!
Many thanks, Bloggard.
Sunjester, I think you and I are on the same wavelength! I may go back and paint some of the fish a different colour, but this is what I have so far, there will be a down-market part of Venice, featuring a fish market, I think.

I think I have the same barrel set in my "to be painted" pile!!!
Lovely and colourful! Great centrepiece building!
