Two police squad cars show up to interrupt the gang party on the streets of ColumbusWe hosted two sessions of my gang warfare rules set, "Mean Streets: War in gang-infested cities" at Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio. I set up my 5'x3' urban battlefield (apartment buildings, gas station, brewpub, factory, etc.) and placed six gangs at various entry points. They all had a primary mission to do some sort of criminal mischief (stealing a car, roughing up a restaurant owner for protection money, etc.). They also had secondary missions of spray painting their gang logo ("tagging") buildings and getting some payback against a specified gang who'd put a beat-down on them last weekend.
Several gangs appear on the streets -- it's a sure bet there's going to be a rumble...!With these incentives in place, and after a quick intro to the rules, I let the miscreants loose on a downtown city center. As expected, gang rumbles broke out across the board, unfortunate business owners were harassed and stolen from, and eventually the police showed up to even greater hijinks taking place. Read about the nefarious actions on my Lead Legionaries blog:
