Bolt Action plans plastic Sd.Kfz 251s.
« on: November 27, 2012, 02:33:28 AM »
For those of you who may be interested but didn't notice and also because this could be a big step for 28mm.
Plastic vehicles for 28mm at last, who would have thought?

And from the description they are easy assembly. Shame they're only available in a boxed set.

It would be nice if it did!
Mind you, if they are desperate enough to get rid of their German infantry it might stay this way...  lol
I have no real use for Sd.Kfz 251s, but with a little bit of work they can be an OT-810 for the Cold War.

Well, if people sent them a message asking, if they get enough they may roll it out as a product...

Knowing warlord they'll probably charge £20 a vehicle and the next plastic kit will be a never made tank that didn't even get to the blueprint stage, they seem to enjoy doing that.

the idea is ace!

taking into account the number of models a person collects at this scale, I think the most reasonable kits would be trucks, jeeps and generic transports like wagons or horse-limbers, which could be used in several types of games/periods
Cheers,
Pedro

I am concerned about the price too! :/
It's already £60 for three half-tracks and infantry.
Which means if they are sold seperately they won't be far from the £20 mark.
I though part of the draw of plastic vehicles, as with plastic figures, was building up units on the cheap.
Then again this is Warlord we're talking about, the company who have gone off the idea of a plastic command frame and instead opt to give you fewer plastic figures in exchange for a couple of metal figures.

Just have to wait and see, figure it is worth the asking. I admit a transport that is about 15 pounds in price would be better...makes those of us in the US cringe less. Still their single models are not priced bad.

They've stated that the 251 kit will be available on it's own, though haven't released a price yet. However as you get 3 251's & 30 infantry in the box I don't see how this isn't a good deal.

It is a good deal if you need that many. One or two at most is what you would more than likely ever need for Bolt Action unless you play large games.

Also, some people already have huge infantry units, getting another 30...do people really want that?

Yep, $24 US. Not a bad price, cheaper than the resin ones. I bought the Hanomag 251/1 resin one and it is nice, had some bad loss of detail on the sides where the plating meets. Figure I may have to snatch a plastic kit next...now what would be cool is if they could do a smaller box of expansions for the plastic to make all the different types...

I am honestly suprised, at £15 I would buy them...except I do grenadiers, not panzergrenadiers in all WWII games.

Nice kit, but why plastic? There are so many good resin kits around, I honestly cannot understand the need for plastic.
 ???

I agree Agis with so many resin kits available.

Whilst I don't have an issue with plastic as they have their place in the hobby perhaps the industry is catering for folks who have a desire for plastics.

I didn't realise there was such a demand for plastics.
