Age of the Big Battalions / Re: 40mm Peninsular Side Project

Cheers Paul, I think I could have managed a slightly larger unit per side  but no more units than I had if that makes sense. Pushing the boundaries of what works at the point of this many figures I think.

Age of the Big Battalions / Re: A new mapboard for campaigns
« Last post by olicana on Today at 11:32:33 PM »
I’ve only ever come across the maps on line, plus descriptions of the campaign by people who played/know someone who played. As I understand it, the Murat wargamer campaign was a colossal undertaking - basically fighting every theatre of the Napoleonic Wars simultaneously with a lot of players and their combined figure collections: Something far beyond myself or my group.

But, the maps are superb for a homegrown wargame campaign that requires point to point movement at this map scale. I remember getting in touch with the owner of the maps a few years ago, seeking to reproduce them on my blog so that people could understand what was happening and he was very gracious and helpful to me. Perhaps, if you want his rules, you could get in touch with him - no harm in asking. I’d help you here if I could but, I’m at a loss to remember his name or how I found his contact details (it’s an age thing). Funnily enough, it might have somehow been through LAF.

Thanks, fellas!  They will certainly do the trick.

They look the part, good job.
Like this line;"The Gambolans do as they see fit, good idea or not."

Yeah, but they might be a bit too free-thinking.  Leads to various coups, revolutions, uprisings, insurgencies, crackdowns, etc.  Northern Gambola is most certainly a member of the Coup of the Month Club... ;)

...men eating demons..."

"...men eating demons..."?   I didn't know demons were edible...was there supposed to be a hyphen there, or were the men actually eating demons?  ;D

Thanks!

The 5th Texas had 2 companies of lancers, and they used them at least through 1862.  At Valverde, at least one company of lancers charged men from the 2nd Colorado Volunteer Infantry, who formed square and repelled the charge......quite Napoleonic, and a rare event in the ACW.

On the Yankee side, the 6th Pennsylvania had lancers, and apparently used them until some time in 1863.

More good-looking figures.  Well done.

I'm still waiting for my copy of Wi to arrive, but I'll look for your stuff in it...
