Here we go...
-
Thanks for posting and all your hard work! Is there a reason the Prof doesn't get any bonus points for his lepers?
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=27131.0
Great choice of picture BTW! 8)
-
Yes, Pil, the reason is they’re armed. The musician has a short sword on his back and the diggers got knives.
-
Great choice of picture BTW!
I'll be spotlighting an entry from the round for each leaderboard and will "spreed the wealth" around. Please place no significance on the choice.
My main criteria is a popular entry which lends itself easily to be turned into a banner and is meant simply as a small reminder of all the great entries for the round.
One down... nine to go. :)

That is a great feature and a very nice way to give peoples some extra motivation and credit!
Excellent initiative, congrats Ray! ;)

Ah, I understand, thanks for the answer 8)
-
Amazing, I'm in the top half of the pack. Ain't going to last past Round 2, but I'll enjoy it while it does! :)
I like the illustrated leaderboard, nice touch!
-

Yeah, my points are at a draw with the Prof's... like that will last! =D
-
I hear that,guys!
At the minute I'm ahead of the Prof and Gamer Mac on points...........UNBELIEVABLE! :o
Of course this is a very limited time kinda deal, especially as Gamer Mac is DESTROYING me this week in our match up and the Prof's work is always very pretty!
But it does feel nice and gives one a kind of warm fluffy feeling while it lasts lol
-
Thanks for that job Ray!
Just a question: why no bonus point for me? Bloodbowl players have no weapons and are civilians. Am I wrong?
-
Thanks for that job Ray!
Just a question: why no bonus point for me? Bloodbowl players have no weapons and are civilians. Am I wrong?
Not to embarrass the good Captain, but he was a little unclear on this point. Here's his initial response to Faber's original query about eligibility for bonus points for Bloodbowl teams in round 1 prior to the start of the contest:
If they are civilians and unarmed then they count. A civilian is someone not part of a uniformed military or paramilitary organisation, or part of a non-uniformed paramilitary organisation (in other words, resistance fighters or partizans would not count as civilians - hence also the 'unarmed' bit).
Unarmed, as per the above point. Non-combatants. Bystanders. The intent is civilian extras, not armed protagonists.
Here is his later response to Muskie's similar query:
But they are combatants in the game, right? Not bystanders. And as part of a uniformed team, not strictly civilian either. So on balance, that's a no.
-
"Bystanders" being the key word here.
Blood Bowl players are the central figures to a rather particular violent form of football game.
Bystanders would be figures such as referees, news crews or cheer leaders. There presence makes no difference to the outcome of the game.
To put the issue in context, the bonus was for painting figures who are not central to the game. Those who inhabit the background and not part of the contest.
-
Sorry Faber, that is correct. I may not have been clear enough in my responses to you and Muskie, but as I see it, Bloodbowl players, armed or not, are uniformed fighters in the combat 'game' of blood bowl. So they are protagonists, not strictly civilian bystanders.
-
I'm honored to have my group pictured, that's a lot of pressure for me to keep up the quality though!
-
@Ray & Captain:
Eh eh, Round 1 was a really unlucky one for me lol
I think they are civilian: in the background they are just "players" -even if in a combat game- not armed, not part of any militar org. The uniform doesn't make you not a civilian: think to a modern rugby team, players wear uniform and they are protagonists and I think that anyone can see they are civilian. Ok, of course they are not bystanders but the Round is called "Civilians and bystanders". So, in my opinion, they are civilians as a modern rugby team.
ANYWAY, it was just to say what I think about: I can survive without those ten points lol
-
Well I'd suggest the difference is that rugby is a contact sport, whereas Bloodbowl is a combat game where part of the objective at least is to maim the opponent. Bloodbowl is therefore, in part at least, about fighting - which surely makes the figures in a Bloodbowl team combatants not bystanders, even if they are civilian combatants. Civilian combatants (like partisans, resistance and so on) were specifically ruled out in the rules for the theme bonus rounds. And having re-read them, I think that my posts on this specific topic, on 2nd and 9th February, made it pretty clear that Bloodbowl figures weren't going to count as civilians.
-
Who hoo! 67th!
As for Bloodbowl, all you have to do is look at the armor or the fact some players use Chainsaws or other weapons... Maybe a Halfling team could argue they are unarmed and innocent bystanders... ;-)
Not looking like I'll get my week three entry done, but I keep chipping away at it, if not this week then the next.
Cheers,
-
ok captain, clear now. I missunderstood the theme o_o
The truth is I do not have any bystander in my collection and I thought BB players were right but in effect they are borderline :)
-
Great idea Ray! Awesome, thanks for the effort :)
-
Yes, Pil, the reason is they’re armed. The musician has a short sword on his back and the diggers got knives.
As an impartial observer I think this may be a little harsh not to count these as civilians/bystanders.
First - I can't clearly see the knives or shortsword in the photo - so maybe some insider information was applied.
Second - these are mediaeval lepers and hence the knives are eating implements rather than offensive weapons.
Third - their various diseases are probably more hazardous than their weapons.
Finally - no self respecting armed force would accept lepers in their ranks.
Having said that - I'm new to the Lead Painter's League but am loving it. So many really talented entries! Well done to everyone who's taking part.....maybe next year!
-
so maybe some insider information was applied.
Yes, a lot of inside info, as that entry was the work of the esteemed Prof W, "Administrator and galactic brain". ;)

I second that. It's a bit harsh.
-
The Prof, being a decent fellow of utmost scruple, flatly refused to accept bonus points for the unarmed civilians theme, knowing several of his figures were armed - even if you can't see the weapons in shot.
That's entirely his call. End of.
-
one of my guys had a spade. ;)
-
What an unusually honest guy Prof is!
-
Believe me when I say that if I should pick one thing which Alex (Prof.) has done to make this place work, it must be fair treatment of everyone. He even moderates us moderators in that direction. :) I was once attracted to this place because of his talents but I stay because of his attitude.
-
How come most of the winners have 55 points and not 45? I thought it'd be 20(winning)+10(bonus)+15(votes)=45.
What am I missing? :)
-
+30 for a Win, +20 for a Draw, +10 for a Loss,
(Plus +10 for a New Entry, +1-15 for votes) ;)
-
Though need to remember that for the first round only there was no bonus for a new team, only the theme bonus for civilians.
So using league-leader Remgain as an example, his 55 points comprise:
30 Win
10 Theme bonus (Civilians)
15 Vote points (maximum possible)
-
Ah, there we go then. Good to know. :)
-
Modified Round 2 Leaderboard, with a new leader, thanks to the keen eye of Admiral Benbow:
-
Great work Ray.
Hows it going is the brain hurting yet :D
I jumped 18 places :o :o :o
If I keep this rate up I could win the comp by round 12 or so lol
-
I'm in the solid middle, but Ray, you asked us to check our points and I think you have given me one point too many. I had 78 votes in my previous entry which should give me 7 'vote' points, not 8, if I'm not mistaken.
Thanks for the hard work and great pick as a header entry! :-*
-
I had 78 votes in my previous entry which should give me 7 'vote' points
Sorry... 78 votes does give you 8 vote points. We round up. ;)
-
Hows it going is the brain hurting yet :D
Given they don't keep changing the hour every week I should be fine. o_o
-
No draws yet?
That might change this round!
Right in the middle, better then I thought I would do!
-
@Ray
Could it be that I got 10 bonuspoints for a new entry in round 2? Those spaceships had been shown already on the web, I checked and it was noted in the mail.
It would be a shame if my winning of LPL5 was discounted for fraude with points lol lol
-
I'm still above the Prof...
I'll just sit here and savour the moment, as it's all downhill from here.
-

Okay Andy, I will correct my work sheet and it will be reflected in the next Leaderboard.

Nonsense. He is in his rightful place. The Prof. is rubbish at miniatures. ;)
-

Thanks Ray. Sorry about that Andy, must have missed your declaration that it was an 'old' team.

Thanks Ray and Captain!
For my honesty a 100 points bonus in round 4? ;)
-
Thanks Ray and Captain!
For my honesty a 100 points bonus in round 4? ;)
Absolutely! But I read in the fine print that the going rate for impertinence is -150. ;)
-
Impertinence? :o
me? :o
Hammers I love it when you talk dirty to me :-*
lol
-
Honesty... seems to be running amuck around here. :o
How cool. :)
-
Impertinence? :o
me? :o
There are pills to help with that. I got an email recently, offering it for free. If you want I can forward it...

That's another sort of ... never mind ;D

New Round 2 Leaderboard posted... with a new leader... Hammers!
Come on guys, you got to keep a eye on your scores and back me up here.
-

@Ray, I'm very sorry. :(
Actually I didn't check the points, I was too astonished about my unbelievable first place! lol
No jokes, I'm really very sorry...
Marco
-
In your case I added 10 + 0 and came up with 20 bonus points. :o
Probably influenced by your 2 wins and tons of voter points but silly nevertheless.
I'm surprised Hammers didn't catch it. And I blame it on him. ;)

I had no idea. No biggie, I will soon be shaken down from that position anyway. That's what being pitched against Grimm does to you.
-

Now Peder, don't be coy... You're winning that match rather handsomely, as you very well know ;)
You're looking like the man to beat... :D

I have not checked the formulala, but with a 60-65/40-45 spread between us some other fella with a better ratio will take the lead. There are a lot of top contenders so far this season. A bit thrilling, really.
Edit: What I mean is that I am not trying to bee coy. The statement is quite realistic. Any competitor set against against an ex-LPL winner and quality painter like Grimm will most likely not win, if having any chance at all, with a great margin.
-

I think so as well.
-
It's still early days so most probably there will be some pretty wild gyrations for a few more rounds. There are still lots of folks who are within striking range.
By the end of round 5, I would think, the contenders for the throne will be a lot more clear.
-
Agreed, I think I've peaked already lol
-

me too lol
I'm learning a lot from this contest. Beware of Faber...in the next LPL lol

Leaderboard after 3 rounds:
-
Oh, so that's what the 'draw' column is for... ::)
I've gone up a place! :D
Edit: Not above the Prof. anymore :'(...
-
Well done Ray. There's a blinking lot of maths goes into that ;D
The field is starting to stretch out a bit now... ::)
-
Ooh get me, I'm famous :)
Sadly my winning streak is being brought to an end by the Prof so I don't see myself moving up the table anytime soon.
-
Very consistent in 70th for the 3rd week running. lol
And having a wonderful time.:D
-

That's the spirit!
Frank down to 22, is that possible?
-
What the hell!! 38th... :'(
Well... a lot of time available to climb to higher positions.
(running for brushes and paints) ;)
Marco
-
Ooh, the lack of bonus points smart... I guess I should paint up a few NEW entries and not showcase old hat, eh? =)
-
The last two bonus round will make a lot of difference between those who enter them and those who don't. It looks so far like you can stay among the top ten based on # of votes and new entries each time but I can't see that happening through rounds 5 and definitely not through round 10.
If you feel the pace now it will get worse. I've had to 'drop out' of four LPLs so far so I know. >:D
-
Awesome work Ray, thanks!
-
Thanks for all your efforts Ray and Capt Blood, it really must be a huge amount of work
I really enjoyed voting in the last LPL but this year I really am having a great time and so much more fun actually taking part.
To date I seem to have exceeded my expectations but am under no illusions and know that I won't be staying where I am now on the table. I'm astonished by the variety and talent that is on show here and its spurring me on to try my best. My entries for round 5-8 are just about finished, with 9 just started and 10 about half done
I've got the day off tomorrow and I'm hoping to get all but round 10 finished as I'm off to the UK next week (and Salute ;D) and hopefully can complete round 10 in a jet lagged state when I return to NZ
-
Frank down to 22, is that possible?
He took a hit in voter points in Round 3. Five points can make a big difference in this early stage.
Overall though, if you take LPL4 as a guide, Capitan Blood won with 1 loss. So the league is still wide open.
-

[smug] I know. I was the one who beat him. [smug] ;)
-
I don't know if that's fate or its karma, but I'm equal with brother!! ???
-
:o 18th…
I fear it will only go down from this point… lol
-
Just as an aside regarding computing the Leaderboard...
Now, each competitor has his own "account" which is set up for the entire league. The first thing I do is "grey out" previous work, leaving only the data that I need for my computations. I then fill in the bonus points based on a summary of the current round from Captain Blood.
Once the voting is finished I then start filling in the worksheet and doing the calculations.
This is what Hammers account looks like at the end of round 3:
-
Now initially the plan was to copy the final line of each individual's score onto a leaderboard spreed sheet. But it didn't work! :o
I discovered that when I used the spreed sheet to automatically add/subtract numbers, it refused to be copied. So I then did all the calculations with my brand new shiny calculator and manually inputed the data. Done so, I found I could then copy the final leaderboard line and paste it on a separate leaderboard worksheet.
Here is a shot of Hammers account, annotated with a small red lines to indicate the calculations required after each round. Eleven! Multiply that by 72 and... o_o
-
WOW :o
That looks massively complicated!
Massive thanks to the work you are doing Ray.
The competition is amazing despite me getting creamed this round!
-

I discovered that when I used the spreed sheet to automatically add/subtract numbers, it refused to be copied.
When you copy the line like that it copies the calculations, not the outcomes. There is a trick to make your life easier in the following rounds:
1) copy the line you want to put in the leader board
2) right-click where you want to paste the line in the leader board
3) choose "Paste special"
4) choose "Values"
Then it should paste the outcomes of the calculations rather than the calculations themselves. That way, you won't have to do the calculations by hand or type out all the outcomes of the calculations. I hope this helps!
As far as the scoring goes, I plan to pick up all the bonus points that are possible so in the end that will give me quite a lot of points. In the LPL 3 I had 6 wins and 4 losses and this LPL seems to be going no different. My vote difference is even negative which means my wins are close but my losses aren't, hehehe. I'm doing alright though at 18th place after this round I'll likely drop a little again 8)

Thanks for the tip. Works great. You are a star!
-
@Ray
Even with the tip from Pil your workload is not to be underestimated! Thanks for putting in the time and effort!
Now to figure out a way to rise in the rankings ... maybe bribes? lol
-
I don't know if that's fate is karma, but I'm equal with brother!! ???
I shouldn't have let you use my camera for the last round lol
-
:)

Glad to help! :)

I would never take a crappy bribe. >:(
Now a good bribe, OTOH.... :D
-
Now a good bribe, OTOH.... :D
Can I tempt you with my missus for a weekend? ;D
Gives me extra time to paint also lol
-
Leaderboard after 4 rounds:
-
Well, still a spread of just 30 points separating the top 25 placed participants... All still to play for :D
-
WOW I am in the top half. :D
-
Ray - I use spreadsheets a lot and I think that I could help to design a more streamlined method for the posting and calculation of the results each week (eg you are using 20 rows for each entrant but I think you only need 11) - could probably make it so that you only have to post the votes and the bonus points each week and carry out one simple process at the end to give the leaderboard.
It is too late to do it for this season - changing would probably bugger it up (tech speak) but if you email me a copy of the spreadsheet I can tinker around with it and see what I can do for the future if you think that would be helpful
-
Steve,
The Prof. has an excel spreedsheet but it can only handle 40 entries. Perhaps Alex could be persuaded to PM you a copy of the doc. and you could take a look at it.
I know this would really help out the LPL and folks would appreciate any assistance that you could provide.
-
OK Ray - over to you Prof...
-
I'm sinking fast... ::)
-
I entered the Top10! Thanks for choosing my Pathans, that means a lot to me!
-
I entered the Top10! Thanks for choosing my Pathans, that means a lot to me!
By all means. Not only am I into NWF, they were indeed also very prettily painted.
-
Even though I'm jealous I agree that there are plenty of better painters in the league than I am. I guess overall I get I deserve. ;)
-
Wow 4th
I've peaked as I'm getting my arse handed to me on a plate by Dr Mathias this week lol
I wonder if its possible for me to somehow capture that table now, print it, frame it and hang it on the wall :D
Going down lol
-
Thanks for choosing my Pathans, that means a lot to me!
I love that guy with his fist in the air! :)
-
That Afghan leader was the first historical figure I ever bought.
-
I'm sinking fast... ::)
Me too! lol
-
I need to sink fast! Quick, somebody vote for the other guy or in a few rounds I'll be mixed in with the chosen draws!!! Oh my, this is gonna hurt!!! :'(
lol
Nah, I'm happy to be where I am and wouldn't mind losing to all the great entries we're seeing here...
I keep saying it, this years' LPL has produced more than several gobsmacking entries!
Great work gents!!! (I say gents 'cause I assume there aren't any ladies involved? Are there...?!)
???
-
At least one lady is participating, though I shall of course leave it up to her as to whether or not she wishes to declare herself :-X
Also, my wife is pondering throwing her hat in the ring for LPL 6, so we may have another next time out. Then again, the deteriorating state of my desk (over 60 minis in various states of completion) as this wears on may prove discouraging...
-
Leaderboard after 5 Rounds:
-
Hammers maintains his lead...
To be honest I suspected you started with that around round 1. I think I have been matched with very good painters throughout.
Indeed some very good painters... Curadh, Grimm, Raz, Remgain and Wirelizard.
Time to up your game Hammers. We are in the home stretch and you still have lots of heavy hitters to go against!
:)
-
WOW!! :o :o
My pygmies at the top of the leaderboard!!
I'm very proud, and I'm not joking! :)
Btw the pygmie boss has the unhealthy habit to be killed (in several interesting and different ways) during each and every pulp adventure we played. >:D
And I climbed in the top half of the board!
:D
Marco

I somehow seem to have found myself amongst some very lofty company. I should probably start to mentally prepare now for a few weeks of crushing defeat!
-
I somehow seem to have found myself amongst some very lofty company. I should probably start to mentally prepare now for a few weeks of crushing defeat!
I was just about to say: I find myself among great names in whose mighty company I shall not feel ashamed...
This is really an exciting season. Still lots of possibilities - good luck to all of you.
-
I somehow seem to have found myself amongst some very lofty company. I should probably start to mentally prepare now for a few weeks of crushing defeat!
My thoughts exactly! :D
-
I'm, at my personal highest position yet this season but I'm facing another defeat this round so I'll likely drop again after round 6. Anyway, I'll just continue raking in bonus points and hopefully a win here and there 8)
I have to say that the quality of the entries is great this league!
-
well done gents
As predicted I'm on the down escalator and am stilll going down this week lol
I have learned a lot though and thoroughly enjoyed myself
Having to 9 paint entries by round 5 along with some figures for a WD3 imaginations game because of a trip to the UK has meant cutting corners rather than uping my game :( at a vital time but its been really good fun. The current problem is taht after all the intensity of those early weeks I now have painting withdrawal and my rt hand is behing rather strangely.
I think I might have to go out and buy a colouring book and crayons or something :D
-
I'm still bobbing around somewhere in the middle third of the pack, that'll do, pig, that'll do. ;)
-

These are my thought exactly...I'm in my best position to date but things are not looking good for this week...so I won't be there long. I made it into the Top 10 just in time to to start facing the big dogs.....DOH!! lol
I'm having a hell of a lot of fun doing it though....and I've gotten more painting done in the last month and a half than I had in the last decade and a half..... ;D
Cheers,
Blue
-
I'm having a hell of a lot of fun doing it though....and I've gotten more painting done in the last month and a half than I had in the last decade and a half.....
Here! Here! After years of having half finished models on my shelf, somebody seems to have come along and painted all my models!! My lead pile seems to be running out!!
-
Here! Here! After years of having half finished models on my shelf, somebody seems to have come along and painted all my models!! My lead pile seems to be running out!!
I fear in my case, that would mean an LPL of a round of 500 and a prohibition on using VISA cards to get that all done lol lol lol
-
I have been buying more than usual because of the LPL, but at the same time I have actually painted
more than usual, so maybe maybe the lead mountain will be slightly smaller at the end.
Just kidding it will more likely grow.
-
I'm having a hell of a lot of fun doing it though....and I've gotten more painting done in the last month and a half than I had in the last decade and a half..... ;D
Well said!
-
My lead pile is certainly headed in the right direction...but I'm starting to feel the "limitations" of my collection...how many teams of Dwarfs can one guy enter? I'm already starting to think about more diverse teams for the next LPL and where to find them....that will certainly lead to the pile heading the other way! Oh well...I'll keep plugging along with what I have right now...I've still got TONS of stunties to get through before I'm done.
Cheers,
Blue
-
Diversity? Pah! Last year I used every round (even Zombies) to paint my more of my F&IW collection.
This year, a slight digression with the African Masai but his sheep at least will be heading off to the Americas! :D

Leaderboard after 6 rounds:

I borrowed your "C'mon" mojo for this week Blackwolf. Hope I didn't jinx anything. :D

Oh, oh, I've gone up a bit. Ugsome and I seem to be locked in an eternal draw... lol

No that's fine ,go for it ;)
-
Oh, oh, I've gone up a bit. Ugsome and I seem to be locked in an eternal draw... lol
If I haven't checked it wrong it seems that we will keep tagging along after this round also.
As I speak we both are beaten and have received exactly the same amount of votes.
I'm not so confident about the future for the moment as my next entry is not so amazing,
entry nine has still not arrived and the last one still lacks models.
May the best man win.:)

Leaderboard after 7 Rounds:
-
Made it into the top 10 !
And many thanks Ray,I really appreciate the acknowledgement (in fact I'm stunned :D).
Cheers
Guy
-
And many thanks Ray
You take great photos with a mobile phone... lol
-
Early days yet, but it's beginning to look like this may be the last week that we still have any participants on an unbeaten run.
-
Indeed, thanks for the work Ray! It seems I peaked at 26 but I seem to be winnng this round as well so I may reach a higher yet. Best of luck to everyone!
-
Highest, 18
Lowest… so far… 49th lol
-
Good work Ray.
I am getting further and further down the list :'(
-
Woohoo! I briefly broke the top screen of the list!

Just to be fair to everyone, you should all know that I didn't intentionally brake the Leaderboard into two parts to show the top and bottom half. I had to do that because the board is so loooooooooong that it all wouldn't fit and be readable as one image.
Keep on stroking everybody... only two rounds to go!
-
5th to 20th in two weeks... :o I hate when that happen... lol at least my last two losses have be fairly close...and its good to see that my competition is right up at the top of the list...softens the blow a little.
Hang in there ya'll two weeks to make your final move! Pull out all the stops!
Cheers,
Blue

Continuing my yo-yo trend right in the middle. I haven't managed to win two in a row since the second round!
Thanks for all your hard work Ray.
-
sneaked back up to 24 only to be slapped back down again by Andy this week ;-)
-
Cruisin` around the middle part of the table just like last year... at least I`m consistent lol
-
Fantastic, I've made it into the top ten!! :o :o Theres no way that can last long!
BTW-sorry Janner.

no problem matey - you've done a superb job and I have no trouble of losing a fair fight ;)
-
As I said earlier - I wanted a framed screen capture when I was 4th about 27 rounds ago :o
Still in freefall from 4th to 32 in 3 rounds lol
-
Hmm, 53rd. I can still win from here! lol
Ugsome and I remain neighbours... ::)

Leaderboard after 8 Rounds:

Watch out below :o :o :o
Coming down :'( :'( :'(
lol

Since my round 8th entry wasn’t "newly painted", shouldn’t I have 80 bonus points instead of 90? …or is there something I didn’t count?
-
Maybe I'm missing something but how did Uncle Mike have 303 points last week and only 258 this week???
Slight miscalculation perhaps or have I got it wrong?

News to me.
You weren't on the "no bonus points" list for the round. Did you tell the Capt'n your round wasn't newly painted?
I'll sort it out though.

Yikes! :o
Interposed a 2 where there should have been a 3. As in 258 vs 358.
Good catch!

Sorry - must have missed this one.
Calimero. Can you just confirm whether your round 9 entry is also new or 'old'?
Thanks.
-
It's an Old entry too... Hence the name of my entries "Not a new team I and II" ;)
-
I guess this league is taking it's toll on the organisation as well ;)
Doing a good jobs guys, just one more round for us and two more for you guys to calculate and we're there!
-
Leaderboard updated with changes.
-
Right!! That's it, can we stop the LPL now?!? I'm down to sixth and there's no way that can last!!! ;) ;)

I'm in some lofty company with the leaderboard banners. Aw, shucks! Thanks guys. :)

Brilliant!
How did I manage to miss such a subtle sign?! ;)

Umm, could we back that up all the way to round? Please? ;)
Kidding, it is starting to look the way it is supposed to.

As we run up to the final... just as a reminder concerning the banners:
I'll be spotlighting an entry from the round for each leaderboard and will "spreed the wealth" around. Please place no significance on the choice.
My main criteria is a popular entry which lends itself easily to be turned into a banner and is meant simply as a small reminder of all the great entries for the round.
There have been lots of great entries and a number of fine painters who have not made the banner. For example, Bugsda's fantastic closeup photography or Hammers splendid dioramas, made it impossible for me to make a suitable banner without distorting the image.
I apologize for that but as I stated above at the beginning, the pictures I choose easily allow themselves to be made into a small pictorial remembrance, leaving the main emphasis, where it should be, on the leaderboard itself.
And one last reminder... please do keep a sharp eye out on your scores. I make mistakes (more than you all know). Normally they are small, fairly insignificant and fixed for the next round. But as we enter the last couple rounds even small mistakes could be important. So keep a sharp eye out and help me to ensure the leaderboard accurately reflects the results achieved.
Cheers!

Thanks for the hard work Ray! I'm up to 24th place, my highest placement so far and also the first time since a long time that I don't have a negative votes difference. I seem to be winning this round again and if I can manage to win round 10 as well I will be very pleased.
Of course I'm already very pleased with all the models I've painted and with all the fantastic entries I've seen. Keep them coming!
-
I apologize
Accepted, I'll learn to live with the dissapointment ;)
And one last reminder... please do keep a sharp eye out on your scores.
Not a chance, you'll just have to live with any mistakes lol
-
4th to 19th and losing again this week. Hooray. Guess a strong start doesn't really pay off.

Leaderboard after 9 rounds:

Anybody a Status Quo fan.
There is a song that really suits my place in the leader board this season :'(
Down down deeper and down
-
I'm at 17 and climbing, woohoo! :)
-
My highest position so far at 57, having made the climb from a steady 70th in the first 3 rounds. So quite pleased :D I am however being slaughtered this round by Mr. J's very nice Mummy entry. lol But I can now say that I have survived my first ever LPL! (Where can I buy the T-shirt?) ;)
-
But I can now say that I have survived my first ever LPL! (Where can I buy the T-shirt?) ;)
What we really need is a t-shirt that says "My marriage survived its first ever LPL!"
To quote my wife from Saturday, "Wait, you want to do this again?" lol
-
I might make the top 50%! Go me!

You already are... ::)

You already are... ::)
Hey, you never know how these things will end up...
-
True :)
Good luck then!
-
My graceful swan dive from my initial improbably high ranking seems to have slowed, and I'm actually winning my Round 10 matchup, so it's possible I'll finish in the mid-50s rather than right down near the bottom!
That, as the man said to the pig, will do, that will do.

Silence. There are those who can only dream of the lofty heights of number 37...
::)

Don't get too hung up on the numbers. The point of the competition is motivation to paint more figures and challenge you to do your best. Any given week half the "losers" probably could have "won" versus some other team. As long as you had fun, painted some figures and improved over the competition - it was worth it.
-
Guys - this was a marathon.......if you got to the finish line then you were a winner and richly deserve the medal!
I've been most impressed with the extremely high standard of entries and well done to Ray for doing the "heavy lifting" by organising it all!
-

Oops!
I'm just the accountant for this years league. A peon. :D
The organizer of this years LPL is Captain Blood who deserves much credit and of course, the founder of the forum, Prof.Witchheimer who has also managed a number of leagues, and though I'm not certain, probably the one who thought of the league in the first place.
Many years ago...

Second! Not for long......I feel abit like a donkey amongst thoroughbreds lol Time to get a new mobile phone.

Down down deeper and down
Lead Zeppelin perhaps? ;)

Hear hear !

True enough. Everyone who competed can I think be very proud of the achievement - to be honest I've found it hard work managing to vote in every round, let alone compete. And there have been some lovely entries from loads of people - this competition is a great testament both to the skill of the LAFers, and also to the great spirit of humour, experimentation and all-round delicious strangeness that infests this board. Well done everyone!

Season Five Leaderboard Final:
-
I said to my wife Annette (who has put up with alot over the past 10 weeks, and even applied pressure...) at the start I'd like to be in the top 10%,made it, just lol
-
My first year in it and I made tenth! Not bad! I need more bonus points next year!
-
41st... no bad at all
-
14th, I'm pleased! I presume my catapult in my final entry wasn't large enough to count as a vehicle for the last 10 bonus points, but I managed to snag every other bonus point otherwise! It's been a great run and I've added lots of skeletons to my army. Good thing too as the buggers are now only 4 points in the Tomb Kings army 8)
-
I am honored to make the Leader Board Header. Thanks Ray.
-
Fantastic entry, Chambers. :-*
When I first read the bonus themes "The Untouchables" and "Public Enemy" were the two movies to pop into my mind.
-
I presume my catapult in my final entry wasn't large enough to count as a vehicle for the last 10 bonus points
Pil, I think the reason you didn't get those last 10 points was because they were oriented towards something that set the scene. Guess it could have gone either way but I'm pretty sure if your photo had been shot from the opposite direction, featuring the walls in the background, you would have gotten the full bonus.
Regardless, you had a good season, congratulations!
-
That was my plan in the beginning, but then I decided I would rather have the few 'good guys' out of focus rather than the entire undead army shown from behind. Either way, thanks for the explanation!
-
Well done all, I really enjoyed taking part
Huge thanks to Captain Blood and Ray for their very hard work over the 10 weeks
-
24th!!
Just in the top third of the board! :D
I'm very satisfied. It could have been better, but also worse.
Anuway: a BIG thanks to the organizer, the leaderboard manager, and, last but not least, the other 71 fellow that every sunday morning surprised me with wonderful entries. :o :-*
THANK YOU!!
