Hi All,
After painting up a Cap America and a team of Axis grenadiers, I've painted the Allies Revised starter set. I needed to paint them for my brother, and was aiming for tabletop quality. That said there were features I enjoyed painting on each figure; the goggles, the camo and the area lighting from the jet packs.

The Axis Hydra Heavy troops have been painted. I tried source lighting for the first time.

I didn't want to use open faced helmets (even one of my heavy lasers came with an open face helm) so I used some Pig Iron gasmask helmets.

Cracking work there Matt :-* You know I have one or two Dust vehicles(heh,heh),one day,when we have a LAF meeting perhaps we could come up with a game,house rules or something? I'm sure Dave King,Painting Princess et al would like to be involved :)

Pulp girls mecha has taken control and begun a rampage. She needs freeing from her metal prison and her mech stopped. Will the heavy lasers and rapid deployment vehicle save the day??? Or will the sinister painting princess complete her nefarious scheme and commandeer the droid?

Two walkers join the allies in battle, the close range 'Blackhawk' and longer ranged 'Honey'. All painted in acrylics with 28mm Cap for reference. These were a good exercise to continue rust painting techniques and 'heated metal' effects. Otherwise pretty quick PJ's.

Honey is part of my brothers allied army. I liked the motor bike aspect of the kit and thought he would too. So I painted it up with references his motorbike - a yellow Moto Guzzi 'No2' cafe racer. He liked that a lot.

No Steve, just bog standard DUST out of the box, mold lines removed and painted. They are equipped as per the cards data for YUSIWUG gameplay.
I liked them and didnt want to add extra pouches and bits.

That's very kind Francisco, I just take my time. I'm rather slow at the hobby, but it's good to see my efforts are appreciated.
My method is still only 1) base coat 2) wash 3) Basecoat layer 4) highlight 5) ochre sand drybrush.

That's about how I do all of my painting too. As you've proven, it produced good results without hours-per-figure investments of time! I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks! You will need to wait a little longer for more DUST, I'm waiting on some custom transfers, and have my OW project beckoning. ;)
After that there will be walkers and Soviets!

The matt varnish frosted the windglass. I'll have to try removing it from the glass. Any tips for coating a vehicle with transparent parts?
Next, the Horten 347 - I love this thing. If there were 1/48 kits of real hortens/flying wings i may have to get another job...

Again the noseart and hydra roundals are from Company B - a little googlefu and illustrator magic made the task rather easy.

I think you can polish the canopy with toothpaste - that's what the scale models guys do. I've tried it a couple of time in canopies fogged with superglue fume and it worked.

As for coating transparent parts, I just use floor varnish (Future/Klear) to do it.

Thanks predatorpt, I'll give it a try. I think the WN I used is water soluble so I'll try a moist Qtip first. :D
Amalric, you will find them a joy to do. They don't require too much preparation and are very sturdy for gaming. If I had another I'd be tempted to cut the wings off the Hoten at the engines and glue on a 1/72 horten flying wing. ;)
