We will provide further information over the next few weeks. We are happy and hope to be able to welcome you to what is now the 19th event and the 20th year (WOW!).
TACTICA Theme Room 2025 – FRENCH TIMESIn 1813 and 1814, the island Wilhelmsburg of the river Elbe, located just south of today's Hamburg city centre, was the scene of fierce battles between the French and Allied armies on several occasions. Where the “Bürgerhaus Wilhelmsburg” stands today and where we organize our TACTICA, ran the great military road between Hamburg and Harburg, which in its construction became the forerunner of the Hamburg Elbe Bridges and the “Wilhelmsburg Reichstraße”. The so-called "French period" from 1806 to 1814 shaped Wilhelmsburg and large parts of northern Germany to this day. Although the battles and conflicts of the Napoleonic Wars in northern Germany are only a sideshow of the important events of that time, their history is nevertheless extremely diverse and exciting. All good reasons to dedicate a TACTICA theme room to this short but interesting era.
Great Battles and the Little WarA large part of the TACTICA presentations will certainly revolve around the battles and, above all, "the small war", i.e. the many clashes between outposts, patrols and “Frei-Korps”. It all begins with the Battle of Lübeck in 1806, the naval battles and landing operations of the English in the years 1807 to 1814, it includes the episodes of 1809, such as the battles of the Freikorps Schill and the Brunswickers on their way to the North Sea, and culminates in the many battles and skirmishes in the years of 1813 and 1814 as part of the spring campaign of 1813, the campaign in Mecklenburg, the campaign in Holstein and finally the siege of Hamburg and Harburg.
Smugglers, spies and privateersDue to the continental blockade imposed by Napoleon to prevent trade with his arch-enemy Great Britain, northern Germany and the adjacent waters of the North and Baltic Sea became a playground for smuggling, espionage and privateers. The British had a base on the "doorstep" of northern Germany through the occupation of Heligoland and because of their strong Baltic Fleet they also controlled the trade on the Baltic Sea. In return, the French and their allies tried to take action against the " wheeling and dealing" of England by means of coastal fortifications, a veritable army of customs officers and by issuing letters of marquee. This led to a trade war in northern Germany, which was characterized by naval battles, sieges, smuggling and spies.
At the “Klabautermann”! And of course, you can also spin lots of “sailor's yarn” and bring the legends and myths of northern Germany from this era to life on your gaming tables. Rulebooks such as "Silver Bayonet" have already established this outlandish theme of the Napoleonic Wars. Whether it's about legendary figures like the "Wild Frenchman" from Mecklenburg or the cruel "Ekke Nekkepenn" from the North Sea or the "Pucks" from Lower Saxony, everything is allowed and we are very curious to see what story you want to tell with your presentation.
ExhibitionIn addition to the game presentations, we also want to bring the topic of "French times" in northern Germany closer to visitors in a small exhibition. In addition to re-enactment there will be dioramas and miniatures on display in this exhibition. If you also have an something on this topic, please feel free to contact us.
If you need further information, help and support on this topic, please feel free to contact us. We will then try to answer or help if possible.
