Classic Indian armyproject. ELEPHANTS!
« on: May 04, 2024, 02:33:48 PM »
This spring I have started a Classic Indian army using our 3D printer. The plan is to build a large enough army for our big games held at Christmas or Easter. I hope to have it ready for this Christmas which shouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that we don’t have a Macedonian army in our group yet. I hope that someone will take up this job, but let’s see how that goes later.

The initial plan is to paint the army in two rounds and then add whatever I find missing later. I am almost done with the first half of my initially planned army. I just need three elephants which are almost ready except for basing. At the moment I have 40 javelinmen on 8 bases, 40 longbowmen on 8 bases, 2 light chariots, 2 heavy chariots and 12 cavalry on 4 bases (and 3 elephants coming up).

This Easter we played a very large TtS Punic Wars game (500 points a side) with 6 players. It was a great game but there was not enough room on my 300x180 cm table. Therefor I am aiming at around 350 points for the Indians instead. In the past we have used Hail Caesar for these events but everyone agreed that TtS was great fun so we will go with for now. We can always go back to HC as basing is very generic.

I hope to do some themed terrain and hopefully run some test games as we go along. I plan to track my progress on this thread.

Cheers
Erik

Well done, they look quite good! I like your choices for the colour scheme, some bright bits, but not over done.

Really nice. Who is the manufacturer of the figures?

 Thanks.

THE ELEPHANTS ARE FINALLY HERE!!!!

Three elephants are ready to join my growing Indian army. I can’t wait to bulldoze them right into anything my opponents dare to muster in front of them.
Coming from landsknechts these beast are a whole different kind of colorful. I really needed to get my head around these new color schemes and I needed new colors (never needed pink before).
With these mighty beasts the first half of my army is done and I have already begun painting the next round of spearmen.

The miniatures are 3D prints from Scropha Miniatures. You can find them on Myminifactory.

Cheers
