Title: Czech Legion Train and Troops
Post by: Over Open Sights on July 09, 2017, 01:55:15 PM
So, having managed to find a new image hosting site after Photobucket decided to charge for the pleasure, I am happy to share with you a collection of images of the Czech Legion train that appeared in the latest "Wargames Illustrated." Engine and rolling stock are from Sarissa Precision and figures from Copplestone, Brigade Games and Forgotten Front.

Great figures and an improvised armored train! Also beautiful mountains! Very well portray the mountainous part of Siberia and the Urals. But the buildings are more typical of Central Asia)))

Being totally honest Mark.
Love the whole thing . However I'm more than side-tracked,and chuffed(no train puns intended) To see some colour on the Dunster force series 3. I thought it'd disappeared into a lead pile.
Is there any chance of a picture of it( here or pm) as its missing from my sculpts.(pic is.)
Cheers,
Mark.

They are from my Afghan project Cuprum

and the buildings are all I have in 28mm for India, Central Asia and Afghanistan.

Figures, train and armoured car are really great, Mark has done a fantastic job.

I did ask they give you a credit Mark but it never happened...so here it is:

Mark did the conversion for the Dunsterforce Armoured Car; he did a brilliant job and wouldn't take any money for it. It's a gem.
I waited until I knew it would get a top paint job.

Cheers Smirnoff,
I wasn't fishing ,however its appreciated.(stop telling people it was free I'll starve!)

I'm glad Mark H. Painted it for you,As his colour choices alway put me in mind of Pissarro's the orchard. I was squinting at the screen trying to see what he'd made of it.
(I still need a pic).rather than taking a good look at the work on the train.

I'm intrigued by Marks blog, There's a period picture of flat bed with an Austin and what appears to be a single turret Austin? If its not then its a car I'm not familiar with(or at least not from that angle)
I think I'd be able to knock up one PDQ .it'd be an interesting addition to my eastern armoured cars.

Mark H
Interesting palette choice as always.

In the photo, the armored car Austin of the 3rd series. An armored car with one turret is very famous (it was assembled from various parts of the broken armored cars). But the Czechs had other Austins ... Here's an example:

By the way - flamethrowers in the Civil War were used only once. It was during the fighting period on Kakhovka bridgehead. So that the Czechs did not have them))) But they had, and often used, chemical artillery shells.

Excellent thanks Cuprum
Need one of those ACs then

I was aware of flamethrows but we are not totally historically accurate at The League and I fancied doing the conversion
They normally get brewed before they start toasting things anyway

It was bugging the me which Austin it was.
I spent half the night looking it up . It's a series 2, apparently there's couple of series 1 knocked up too.(I never rely upon just once source on that there internet)
I'll happily knock one up it'll only take a couple of hours to remaster So I'll see if It can be cast in time for Partizan II.

Sorry Mark if its hijacked your thread .it was just a musing that's grown legs.(once I've made it ill send you one if your interested.)

Mark.

This armored car was created from fragments of Austin 1st and 2nd series. I have drawings of this armored car from the Russian hobby magazine for modeling (1:35). If you want, I can send a scan.

That's some excellent work!  :o Can anyone tell me which company makes the officer figure in the Adrian helmet armed with the stocked broomhandle mauser pistol? You don't often see them in miniature form with the stock holster attached, cheers

Fantastic pics.
Really adds to the period to show something different like the train.
You mentioned the photobucket issue. Can I ask who you have gone with now, as I'm fishing for an alternative to photobucket ?
Many thanks
