Title: Information please - Arms for this...
Post by: Orctrader on January 28, 2024, 11:32:51 AM
In my Lead Pile (Sci-fi section  ::) ) I have this GW 40K Commander type

Where can I purchase suitable arms?  I'm assuming originals will be very expensive so looking for suitable alternatives and guessing Anvil.  Ebay perhaps.

Not sure what to look for though.

I've got quite a few spares you can have. What sort of pose and do you need weapons?

I’ve a feeling the Stargrave arms would work. I’ve got quite a few spares so check the Northstar web store (you can check the sprues) and let me know what you’re after I’ll have a look. Wargames Atlantic stuff might work too so also worth checking their site as well

To be honest, all nostalgia aside, the original arms were down to their knees anyway! I'd probably be looking for replacements even if it was complete.

I should have said at the outset, I plead ignorance as to what the figure is... ::)

Very kind James.  What are my options?  (Any link appreciated.)  I was thinking binoculars or map in one hand and pistol or some such in the other.  Or binoculars\map and pointing finger pose.

Thanks.  Very kind.  Let me see what James comes up with first though.

Now I'm even more confused than before.   lol  (Note to self - never again purchase a miniatures, no matter how cool-looking, that is armless.   ::) )

He's an Imperial commander from the old Rogue Trader days. The original arms never had any weapons or such attached so you'd have to do that yourself if you use the original ones.

The arms on my commander are from the newer Imperial Guard plastics. The normal troopers have the original arms, just so you've got an idea.

Others suggestions are fine however. The more recent Imperial guard plastic arms have more choice and are generally available from bits sellers or on eBay.

Still happy to send you a couple if you need them but they are a bit repetitive and newer ones would probably look better in the long run.

Thanks, all clear now.

Thanks for the offer of original arms, but I'll follow advice and obtain alternatives.

If you have any of the ww2 Warlord sprues free with WI, have a look at them. I used binoculars and map arms from them on Anvil torsos, so they could work. I think it was either British or US sprues I got them from, but I was clipping freely at the time and not really paying attention  ;D
