18mm Crimean War Project
« on: July 19, 2021, 08:29:03 PM »
The "local" historical gaming group (it's about an hour and a half away) has embarked on Crimean War project. Miniatures are from Eureka USA and although they have a decent selection for infantry other options are limited, especially for the Turks, which is what I have just finished painting.

I admit I found them a bit challenging as I almost exclusively paint 28mm, however the small size of the figures means that you do get a regiment painted up relatively quickly.

These look excellent Codsticker! I love the look of them in mass too.

As for variation, I know that Eureka are making an 18mm Russo-Turkish war range atm, could some of the Turkish infantry from that
period be used to flesh out their Crimean war range?

Thank you FW. :)

Possibly. I wonder which decade; there are 4 Russo-Turkish Wars (including the Crimean War) in the 19th century alone! :o ::) Aside from infantry command Eureka doesn't make higher level commanders and no cavalry so those are what I would be looking to get from the Russo-Turkish war range.

Here are my Rank & File 15mm Turks http://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2017/09/rank-file-15mm-turks.html

R&F  make several sets of infantry, in western style (like yours) ansd zouave style. All for Crimea to 1877 it seems. They also make artillery and 3 cavalry sets withput command, in western, fez and kolpak. Don't know if that's any help.

I replaced the flags shown with flags that look like yours.

With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Very nice Codsticker.  Lancashire Games Crimean stuff also matches well enough with with Eureka should you be so inclined.

Oh that is good to know. I shall have to check them out.

I have added French to the Finished List.

I think they are better sculpted than the Turks.

I still find them a bit hard on my eyes though o_o...
