Latest masters and hopefully the first of many pictures of the game at Salute. Bavarian artillery crew and cavalry dolly for the Bavarian cavalry, plus 3 conversions for needle rifle - although only use is very limited as it was classed as a secret weapon and they didnt want it to fall into enemy hands - company level use skirmiskhing.

That ship is looking great! I like the garden too. What colour do you plan these soldiers to wash with?

On these I've just put a burnt umber wash on the hands and faces, previously I've given the figures a full black wash - not too happy with the results so for the rest of the uniform body and trousers a black wash on to give depth to the white trousers.  There are different view points regarding the use of needle rifles in 1848 war, from Danish sources yes from German sources no.  It gives me the potential of doing a war with Austria in 1850 over the erfurt union (plus Russians supporting Austria).

I see, thats why I asked :) Some armies can be painted with washes, but the balck powder era uniforms are too colourful to be covered with just 1 wash.

With the new Prussians I've painted I've put a weak black wash for the trousers and high lighted the coat with a 50/50 mix of prussian blue and blue gray this has worked and given some depth to the coat.
