First up ambulance as I've got a decent drawing. Recon version to follow...

Ripley will be pleased (okay wrong forum http://forum.rubiconmodels.com/index.php?topic=632.msg7417#msg7417 (http://forum.rubiconmodels.com/index.php?topic=632.msg7417#msg7417)).
1/56 or 1/48?
-
Neither :)
They were used in later conflicts ;)
-
Great to see the C15TA on the workbench! My friend just 3D printed some Otters for me. If there's a C15TA on the way, then can an Otter be far behind?

Ah, possibly 1/50 scale?
-
:D
-
So cool.
Is there rules for one of these in bolt action?
-
Ambulances are and the German half track ambulances certainly are.
Recce version - still WIP
-
Roof on and interior
Quite a bit of detailing to do and the interior is best guess as no drawings I can find detail it.
-
Ooh, that's a bit cool. If you do them in 1/72 I know I'd definitely get plenty of use out of them between my French Indo-China, Vietnam and Bush Wars projects.

Might these help?

Yes! Thanks!!
This is a commission in 1/50 I'm afraid

I assume you have seen this?

I also found this, YMMV.

Yes got them, it's interior shots I'm struggling with.
-
Ambulance wet out the ultrasonic cleaner.
Needs a little bit of cleanup but a good print first time :D
-
Nice.
-
Interior getting there
-
Have no use for such a beast......but I want one !
Party truck!! lol

In game terms the C15TA should be similar to the M3A1 White Scout Car. It was proposed cancellation of the White Car that led to the C15TA being commissioned, and it had similar levels of armour protection and carrying capacity.

Undercoat

Other end

The only difference to the white is an LMG in place of the HMG
-
I thought the Brits and Canadians stripped the 50 cals out of their Whites for logistical reasons?

Very cool model Rich

Thanks :)

Interior view

Gorgeous!
-
Very nice.
-
Production version on the printer now. The interior is all separate to make casting easier. Plus there is now a dashboard, gear levers and a steering wheel!!
If you haven't guessed it'll be 1/50 and going to Paul at Empress soon-ish. When I can make an essential journey that goes via the village shop (like I run out of lager or something)
-
Lovely work Rich.
-
So what would it be used for?
-
Officially C15TA was used as an armoured troop carrier or ambulance. In practice, it was used in a variety of roles, providing lightly armoured hauling capacity as needed.
-
Your models are always amazing, Rich

Thanks.
Having read the M3 White entry in both (first edition) Commonwealth and US Bolt Action army books (interesting difference of opinion on the M3's scoutiness), and it's disappearance after 1944, can I assume that the C15TA (with opponent's permission) would fit in the transport slot in later lists.
Now, if while the crew for this are being sculpted a British crew for the jeep can be added, that would suit my tentative plan for an Ian Fleming style Techno-Snatch squad.

A right ugly brute of a vehicle... I gotta get me one, well maybe 2 or 3.
If used in Indo-China, as previously mentioned, I can justify having it/them.
Bonus if available from Empress.
-
Thanks all :)
Yes it's for Empress :D

Yes, used by the French and passed on to the South Vietnamese who used them in the 1960's. Also used in an number of other colonial conflicts. https://www.mapleleafup.nl/cmpvehicles/c15ta.html http://mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=13686

Thank you Estranger, I now have a list of vehicles to get.
-
Nice! I hope Paul is working on some crew for those open toped beasts. :o
-
They also saw service with the Portuguese in Guiné during the colonial war.

All in all a very useful vehicle.

Great idea. Me want FRENCH for Indo-China.
Oh & if they could also fit:-
Universal carriers, Coventry Armoured cars (a model of which would also be useful),
Lynx scout cars & Indian pattern FAT with armoured cab.
Sorry forgot to put 'Dear Santa' at the start of the list.

Maybe we should have another thread with "What do we want Rich H to design for Empress"?
I have a list...
^___^

Feel free to pitch your ideas :D perhaps in a more general thread?

Since you've already done the C15TA, I'll vote for the Otter! (Although I probably shouldn't, all my current vehicles are 1/56, and I don't want to change now!)
-
I'll see if Paul is interested ;)
