Wood Elf Army - WFB 3rd ed.
« on: November 15, 2009, 09:47:49 AM »
Finally finished the Zoat! Still not a 100% with the paint job - big expanses of green and grey have been a bit of a pain - but it'll do for now till I regain my patience...

Oh, I dearly miss these Zoats in my Wood Elf army......

Nice to see there are still some people interested in these "curiious" miniatures.

Cool.   :)  I like the color effect you got for the fingernails and toenails.

Really vibrant, and it looks like he gels well with your scenery. Excellent Zoatsmanship.

These are great, in fact my favorites of this weeks forum browsing!  Rich colors, great style. Great choice of sculpts, too.

I should really stop cherry-picking the more interesting minis from the large pile of 80s elves I've got to paint or else I'll be left with 50 odd archers! Oh well - next addition are these two Elven animal handlers with their cats and dogs -

Happy enough with the dogs - not quite so sure about the highland wildcat effect I tried with the cats - a little tigery?

The bear handler is to follow...

I quite like the effect on the cats, exotic but not to tigery. Can't wait to see the bears. Excellent work on the treeman btw...the early versions had more character to me.  :)

I agree - it's just tigery enough in my opinion.

And a great collection of old school minis there. Nice.

Ta very much - the more I look at the cats the more my eye glosses over bad stripes so I quite like them now!

Latest minis painted - Elf and bear

Great stuff! My local game store, despite all appearances of closing down, had a batch of these old Wood Elves for sale. Looks like the owner was selling his own collection? I was very tempted, mostly due to the inspiration of this thread.
Keep up the good work!

Cool - what were they going for?

Next up is Skarloc offof Skarloc's Wood Elf Archers - an excellent, old Regiment of Renown - looking forward to facing them off with Ruglud's Armoured Orcs, once I've repainted them. Also need to locate a replacement for Ruglud - angry orc with two swords, and Maggot the diminutive standard bearer, who seem to have gone walkabout..

Anyway - piccies!

I wished I'd kept my 3.ed wood elves now. GW's new ones are nice, but there's something a little different about these old ones. They also remind me of when I first got into gaming 18yrs or so ago and the whole GW thing seemed to be so fresh, full of promise and with endless boundries...
