So the next project gains some traction.
1/56 Scammell Pioneer recovery vehicle
I'm experimenting with 3d printing components wheels and undercarriage so far:

Superb so far, looking forward to seeing this build grow, the 3d parts look fine in the pictures.
Whats the problem that you have with it?
-
They look ok but i need to get them painted see how much the printed layers stand out. Also its hard to tell if the details will show properly. I'm going to print the roof bonnet (hood) and radiatof later.

Ahh I see

You just need a better printer?
Maybe check a different company for the printing?
-
Printer is sat on my table ;)
£150 and it's really not that bad. I've jstu printed the roof - I got it wrong but it's pretty darn good. I need a polish but very near. It's a horrible complex shape and it's a lot easier changing things on the computer than starting again!
It's no good for flat surfaces as it's not good enough but for complex curves and no-vital fiddly bits it's OK
So undercarriage and axles that would normally be ignored can be printed and used as is.

Outstanding!
Of course this road leads to madness. Next you'll be sculpting a Queen Mary trailer and all the other bits from the old Airfix airfield kits, culminating in a 1/56 Lancaster. :)

lol
No.
But... I might make the Scammell tank transporter...
But got lots of other stuff to do as well...
-
And a Scammell artillery tractor? ;)
-
The rear bed is designed separate so I can make it convertible. Sadly the tank transporter version has a longer chassis

Lovely build, look foorward to seeing the finished article.
