This could probably have gone into the flouncy shirts board because the game play is strictly non-magical. In fact, I use it with my Three Musketeers figures, but since the setting is a fantasy pre-Napoleonic era one...here we are.
Alternative Armies released a deuling game a couple of years back, set in the elvish Civil War that predates the Flintloque fantasy Napoleonic era, and I gotta say it's pretty good. I've always struggled to find an enjoyable one-on-one fight game because of the minutiae of tracking stats and the tendency to devolve into static figures bashing each other. "En Garde" avoids both problems with some interesting tracking mechanisms and decision making.
Running away until your opponent is too winded to counter-strike is a viable tactic against the right opponent, as is charging in and battering him with up close and personal knife attacks when he would prefer to maintain his distance.
And of course, like all good dueling games, it incorporates a couple of bluff-counter-bluff mechanics that allow for the players to engage in a mental feint-and-thrust.
It's a pretty fun game. I've got a full write-up on the blog, if you're interested in reading more...
