The Wargames Atlantic figures are hard plastic and are fine (I had some work on some of the joins on the body but nothing filing and liquid poly would not fix).

The thermoplastic ones are the officers, LMG, trench Raiders and the RCO howitzer.

That’s a tad disconcerting to hear

I haven’t tried yet but I’ll probably take a scalpel to them tomorrow

A Swann Morten no 15 blade seems to do a quick and easy job of slicing off the flash, though I’ll have a better idea when I finish cleaning the figure tomorrow.
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2024 = 38
(2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

Quick shout out to Troll Hoard Games in the U.S.A. Ordered 8 packs of metal Coftyran, only $15 carriage and delivered to the U.K. in less than two weeks, super service and really well recommended. :)

I’ve cleaned up and primed the first three of my thermoplastics.

One had a significant piece of flash with others having mould lines, mostly very faint. They cleaned up easily with the scalpel blade (a bit too easily as I ended up carving away some details by mistake).

An area to take extra care with is the mould lines between the legs, as it can be difficult to get in there and clean up without leaving feathering. I also had to redefine a few fingers that after cleaning up had lost some of their definition.

One of the figures is an LMG, and the longer barrel was warped, which I cut and pinned to straighten out.

They look very nice primed - lovely little characters and I’m looking forward to painting them.

With painting in mind, does anyone know what Maerch is holding in his left hand:

Dubdeu Derringer
Quote
The Dubdeu is an 8 gauge, double-barrel, break-open derringer..
From Western Iron.

Hopefully we will get rules for it, the Splagen and the RCO.

Thanks - I think I’ll turn it into a large grenade or charge  :)

:D As it happens I’ve found a YouTube video where Josh says it’s a large grenade.

Ah, I have only 10a blades for my Swann Mortens.

And I was unaware that the material reacted badly to filing.

The Crusader officer has been cleaned up with the scalpel only. The legs are difficult to clean up.

I hope to get them based and painted this weekend

I have one finished Crusader Rhyfler ready to be photographed.

I didn’t try filing but I’d guess it feathers

With a vengeance.

That does make more sense, after posting I noticed the rifle barrel.

Okay, I have a question about part 8 on the Coftyran sprue.

Is that two baguettes in the bag or large caterpillars?
Here is the sprue picture of the bag.
