AAR Spanish Civil War with Chain of Command
« on: January 17, 2014, 05:36:08 PM »
James has been itching to try Chain of Command for quite some time now, so yesterday evening he bought his extensive Spanish Civil War collection to the club and we pitted the Legion against the International Brigade in a patrol action around a small village.

Looks great.
I am interested in this, since I pick the whole Force of Arms range plus a horde of his models cheep :D, I have a few :o Empress miniatures figures etc too.
Should pick up some figures of my caster next week.
Did you have to do much changes for Chain of Command ?
I was thinking of using Bolt action or Triumph & Tragedy for SCW.
Cheers
David

We did not need to make any changes - the Lardies have already done it all for us, there are SCW ammendments and a load of force organisations on their blog:  http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/

Nice write up and pictures, the Republic is not doing well. Under my command in a game today they came second too :)

Excellent game report Scrivs.

Sounds like the Internationals were going quite well until all their leaders got shot! In a game like CoC, like real life, if you take away the leadership the troops will seldom get the job down against a well led opponent.

..also having the Legion roll up on morale and the Internationals not doing the same also was going to make it a hard ask. Still you certainly dropped a few legionaries there and no doubt next time you couldn't possibly lose that many leaders :-)

Nice one.

...and great T-shirt!

Cheers

I am trying to resist SCW gaming.

Now this makes it so much more difficult for me. ;)

Compliments nonetheless.

Thanks for the peep!

Cheers for all your kind comments.

I have another game of CoC/SCW scheduled with James next Thursday and some shiny new Empress Moroccans arrived today so I'll soon have a force of my own painted.

Received reinforcements today from Empress: Nationalist 50mm Mortars with crew and two Legion Scout teams.

Also a few more Guardia Civil to make a full support section (or combine with Asaltos to make a Security Force Platoon for either side).  :D

A 2nd game of CoC/SCW yesterday, this time with Matt Moran taking over the command of the Brigaders.

We decided on the Delaying Action scenario with La Legion defending. Matt opted to take an (unofficial) PFR +3/Command dice 5 version of the IB. We both started at 9 for Force Morale.

Matt took an Adjutant, BA-6 armoured car and a T26 tank as Support [gulp!]. I had chosen an off table MMG and wished i'd opted for Molotovs as i had nothing that could scratch the BA-6 or T26 ....

The Brigaders had to take a Nationalist Jump-Off point to win the game. Any other result is a win for La Legion

[more later]

Die Hard - am i reading this correctly? Troops with DH ignore all effects of shock. So they can move 3D6 freely. Their shooting is unimpeded. They never break due to the effect of Shock etc. We're finding this massively powerful (or doing something wrong)

Thanks, James

[sounds like we are playing Die Hard correctly ...]

La Legion absolutely stonked the IB in this game. The Brigader sections were caught in open terrain and with the aid of a couple of double 6 turns (retained Initiative) tore the IB a new one with shooting.

With the Brigader's morale plummeting, and squads routing, we left it where the few remaining Republicans launched a suicidal charge .... [and more material for Woody Guthrie]

The Legion, in soft cover, and disregarding Shock, lost two men all game.

I ignored the AC & tank  :D The latter didn't move due to it not having a Junior Leader and 1's at a premium for Matt

Hopefully the International Brigade can do better this Thursday, they certainly had the upper hand in our last game until you fluked killing both Junior Leaders!
