I have found a way to make the Eagar Rice Burroughs 4 armed Green Martians. I used a box of GW plastic fantasy Orks. I use one set of legs, two torsos, four arms and one head. I also used the extra rifles from the GW skweets, I had ten left over.
I glued one torso to the legs and carved off the neck stump and carved back between the shoulders a resting place for the next torso. I glue the second torso into this resting place. Fill in the gaps with putty, I actually use wood putty. For some figures, I use the shield fronts and glue them into the bottom torso in the place where the head was cut away.
I use the right arms with spears for the rifles. I cut away the spears and drill a hole for the rifle in the hand. Cut the rifle in half where you want the 4-AGM to hold it. Since the hand of an Orc is very large, you need to only glue enough of the rifle to hold it place. Glue the long part of the rifle first to the top of the hand. Glue the rest of the Rifle, usually this is the stock, to the bottom of the hand. Now glue this arm to the top torso, so that the 4-AGM can shoot the rifle. The rest of the arms with weapons I glue to the remaining three places of the two torsos.
Choose a head and glue that to the top of the torso. A lot of the heads have tusks which make for a fierce 4 armed Green Martian Warrior. With so many heads and different weapons each 4-AGM is unique.
I am up to 20 warriors and one Jek for my Martins force.

Sounds great. I bet I speak for all of us when I say I'd love to see some pictures.
-
As you are new to the site you won’t know. Words don’t count for much here. We like pictures please. ;D
-
This sounds like a great idea, and forgive my ignorance, but what are "skweets"? I'm not much of a GW gamer anymore and that seems to have passd me by.
-
have most scanned images, but I have not figured out how to post them to this message.
Still Frozen in Minnesota at -5 F.

welcome! and am with ever one else when I say we would love to see them

Easiest way to post pics is to host them on the web somewhere. I use Flickr. Then get the link to the pic and put it inbetween image html tags. There is a button above your text box when posting that looks like a framed picture, click that and put your link inbetween the two boxes that appear in the text.

I've seen Lee's work in progress (its up to his usual excellent scratchbuilding standards) and can't wait to game with these. If he doesn't get photos, I will try to remember to bring my camera that night

I've seen pictures on the web of this basic idea done before, I think. It sounds very familar to me, but I can't remember where I saw it. Anyway, as i recall, it worked very well.

Skrapwelder did it with Kroot, removing all spines etc, and that worked very well.
-
The Kroot idea is the original and where I got the idea.
The Skreets I mentioned before are Kroots. I went with orcs because of the heavy look. But the ERB Greenmen are look tall and skinny. Next time I might go with the Kroots with Orc heads.

Man those guys are moving! ;)
Looks like a good thing you've got. With the boots and cleavers they look like a kind of Industrial Evolution Thark brought on by the Human European's presence on the Red Planet. The whole thing probably got started with a trade of some kegs of stout. I like them.
Oh yeah, Welcome aboard.

awww I cant see the pic's :-[

Neither can I, unless I click on them.
Ok why do you have to click on them?
