Title: A Pond, and other area scenery
Post by: Wirelizard on May 01, 2017, 05:32:27 AM
Starting up a new round of terrain building, filling in some of the gaps in my scatter terrain collection. I've got lots of hedges and walls, lots of fields, some rough ground bits, and such, but no water features at all. I'd like to do a series of modular creek pieces, so as a test for that I did up a small duck pond.

Started with an offcut of styrene sheet (plasticard) about 3" long by 2" wide, cut it to a sort of bean-like shape, sanded the edges smooth, then used Milliput to add a low bank around the edges.

The water is a couple layers of high-gloss white glue over paint, and I finished the thing off with some flocking and tufts around the banks.

More, including why styrene, anyway, over on the blog: http://www.warbard.ca/2017/04/30/a-quick-and-simple-pond/

Great looking result! I plan on doing something similar, but for marshes vs duck ponds.  :D
