Was there ever, in the history of warfare, as brave, daring and charismatic a leader who looked quite such a ponce as Joachim Murat? :)
Looks great!
-
Plynkes
straight answer matey NO!! :D ;)
he was seen in Russia next to a westphalian horse
battery ...the officer in charge was speaking to Murat
explaining in poor French how his roundshot were
landing but he struggled to concentrate as his head
was the same level as Murats bright pink skintight
trousers .crown jewels to close to hand :owith a velvet
skyblue jacket set with diamonds and grass green gloves
and oversized thirty years war turned down deerskin boots
impervious to the incoming shot...said the memory stayed with him forever as Murat tried he thinks to get himself killed..who knows great
story...............

Slightly off on a tangent but I seem to recall that the actor who played Odo in Deep Space 9 (Rene Auberjonois) is directly related to Murat and Napoleon's sister. In fact I think Murat is his great, great, great grandfather.

Steve
nice on didn't know that ..bit of a Murat fan me.........

Indeed!
There are also many well-known anecdotes about the great admiration the cossacks had for his person.
"...It gave him the opportunity of amusing himself, by caracoling on the neutral ground betwixt the camps, displaying his handsome form, gallant horsemanship, and splendid dresses, to the soldiers of both sides; receiving the respectful salutes of the Russian patrols, and the applause of the Cossacks. These last used to crowd around him, partly in real admiration of his chivalrous appearence and character, which was of a kind to captivate these primitive warriors, and partly, doubtless, from their natural shrewdness, which saw the utility of maintaining his delusion. They called him their hettman; and he was so intoxicated with their applause, as to have been said to nourish the wild idea of becoming in earnest King of the Cossacks..."
[The life of Napoleon Bonaparte Emperor of the French - Walter Scott 1853 p.137]
An inspiration for a diorama perhaps? ;)
