Title: Quintessential Tatooine... Input Required
Post by: KONNOC on 13 May 2017, 01:46:03 AM
So I'm working on a gaming table representing Tatooine, but can't determine which gaming mat best represents the planet.

There's
http://www.deepcutstudio.com/product/wargames-terrain-mat-badlands/ (http://www.deepcutstudio.com/product/wargames-terrain-mat-badlands/)

I like this because it fits well with what we see in some maps on Star Wars Battlefront 3

but
http://www.deepcutstudio.com/product/wargames-terrain-mat-wasteland/ (http://www.deepcutstudio.com/product/wargames-terrain-mat-wasteland/)

This one looks more like the scenery you'd see around Mos Eisley or Mos Espa.....only I don't know if the dried lake bottom effect would be something you'd see on Tatooine.

Opinions???

Both look incrediblly well-textured and evocative of a desert world. I want both!!!...but either would be a good place to experience Sandtrooper patrols and Tusken Raider ambushes  :-)

The wasteland mat has cracks, suggesting recently dried water. On Tatooine the only water comes from moisture vaporators.

I had the Wasteland one and it was okay - but a little too not-Old-West for me to keep.  The quality of Deep Cut stuff is fantastic (though they seem to insist on adding VAT to non-Euro countries prices).
