Hey everybody,
Today it's the 40th anniversary of the original Star Wars movie. More than a chance for me to paint and photograph some of the very rare vintage models by WEG/Grenadier to create some of the most iconic movie moments. It was a lot of fun and I'm really excited to create more scenes, even from the other saga movies and Rogue One.
Hope you like them!
Best wishes,
Dan

C-3PO
Judging by the startled look on C3PO's face, R2 has been a little careless with his manipulator!
Lovely work! :)

Watching Star Wars (theatrical release 'natch) tonight. My parents took me to it tonight when we lived in Burbank, CA, 40 years ago. Ugh, guess I'm old. ;)
-
Most excellent.
The Force was with you taking the photos.
I sure remember where I was the first time I saw it 40 years ago.

Great, just great.

If it helps, I went by myself, and this long after I'd gone to college a year and a half, and dropped out. No, you aren't OLD.

Great pictures! I can't wait to see what else uou come up with! :o
Does it take long to create a shot like these? Are you longer setting up the miniatures and terrain, than doing photoshop?
-
Heck. Thats good, them.

Ah ok, you will... what you win is a tub of Metamucil, but you win ;)
These are really stunning, not just the paint jobs themselves but also the photography settings. I can attest that it's not easy to take good pics like this.

Thank you so much for all the lovely words! That's pure motivation! :)
I finished a rodian mercenary from west end games and took the chance to give him a cinematic shot too :)
Hope you like this little lad.
Cheers,
Daniel

These are superb. I've sometimes seen people question the quality of the sculpting of the old WEG models, but these photos show that they are full of character and still hold up after so many years. Very inspirational!
