Hello, I am building a Confederate army on the theme of vicksburg but I have very few documents on the battalions.

A HUGE thank you for this help because after the visit of the battlefield I lost all the memories in a suitcase returning to france.

Glad I could help. I live a couple miles from Gettysburg so I  have a soft spot for the ACW.

You may already know that many units of the Confederate Vicksburg garrison wore 'drab' uniforms of undyed wool cloth, in various shades of dirty white, tan and grey. The article “Drab: The Forgotten Confederate Color”, Confederate Veteran, September-October, 1992 on this website gives details:

Bowen's division was the best led outfit in Pemberton's army. They were hard to beat.
